I would go with the HTM1 if I could afford it and had a proper place to set it. In my case I got the HTM4 because the only place for it is the upper shelf above the flat screen in my entertainment center. It is a good speaker, but does not have the depth or richness of tone the 804s has which is essentially the same as the HTM1. If you do a side by side comparison for dialogue you should notice the larger center is superior. Keep in mind, well over half the audio in a typical movie is broadcast through the center channel, so this would be a good choice to anchor your system.

View and compare the graphs of these subwoofers.

This website is for sale! avtalk.co.uk is your first and best source for all of the information you’re looking for. From general topics to more of what you would expect to find here, avtalk.co.uk has it all. We hope you find what you are searching for!

My current "reference" subwoofer(s) is/are dual CSS SDX-15's powered by a Crown I-Tech 8000 (Built the subwoofer boxes myself). I also still own a Velodyne HGS-10 too. Both of which were measured in these tests (as was various Rel's).

I can tell you that these graphs don't lie regarding their performance.
Personally I would stay far away from Rel IMO.

If you don't mind me being a bit frank, some of these subwoofers are down-right disgusting and should not be called a subwoofer at all, as it gives them a bad reputation. (Yeah, some are really 'That Bad'.)

The cards are on the table and the winning-hands are visible.

went from 703 to 805s as fronts, a mistake for HT?
          by THX-UltraII
          Hi guys,

I recently bought a Velodyne DD18 subwoofer. I thought the bass was so good that came from the DD18 that I started to look for 805s set for my fronts. I ve heard them before and they sounded so much clearer than my 703s. So I found a set and bought them and also sold my 703s....

          Centre to match 805s's
          by Cheapskate2003
          Hi

I have just bought a pair of 805s which I love and now I need a centre to match, I know the obvious choice is HTM4s but would it be worth seaching out a used or ex-demo HTM2 or HTM1? Would they match well or should I just stick with the HTM4s?

          Any views would be great...

Center and Rears For Signature 805s
          by bullitt731
I just bought a set of the Signature 805s in the Red Birdseye Maple. I am not sure which center or rear surround speaker was designed to match this particular speaker the best. Was it the older HTM1, the older HTM2, or the new HTM4 for the front. I have seen several different models used as rear surrounds...

          B&W Centers?
          by schwegs99
My current setup is a 3.1.
          B&W 804s, CMC2, Velodyne DEQ-12R, Denon 3310CI (soon an Emotiva XPA-5)

I was just curious about what the difference between all the HTM centers are?

          HTM1, HTM4s, HTM3D, HTM2D, HTM1D

How do each compare and what do you...
