New 802 Diamonds are in the House

I got my 802 Diamonds at 3:30pm today It took 3 hours to unpack, spike, set up then clean up. From what few hours I did listen to them I really do love them. I made a good choice. Since I really never listened to the 802Ds the only thing I can compare them to is my old Matrix 802s. The new speakers have much better high end and low end and the sound stage is incredible. I really couldn't be happier

    Here's a few pictures

First a picture from last summer, then from today.

Looking at what the 802's replaced, you certainly hold onto your speakers longer than I. :W

            Congrats!

Be sure to share your thoughts on the sound quality once you've lived with them for a while.

When I bought the Matrix 802s they were more than I could afford so I held on to them for a long time. I also loved the sound.

The new 802 Diamonds were also more than I could afford and I also really love their sound. I can see hanging onto these for a real long time. I probably will play around with the electronics and interconnects more.

They are very pretty. As for the silver rings, they bother me a very tiny bit, no big deal.

Nice upgrade indeed that is the way not to be disappointed wait 10 years before upgrading and then you are in Nirvana.

Maybe it is worth just changing speakers every ten years

Rosenut is a beautiful color, at least for my room.

I believe you are right with regards to production order. As to personalt taste, its just that. Personal. I'm not religious so I leave people to their own preferences with few comments. Only one comment seems prudent in this situation: Cherry Rules, Rosenut sucks!

And I'm gonna get me som more red wine now

Congrats on a beautiful pair of speakers! That's awesome you went from Matrix 802s to 802Dis! I expect to hold on to my 802Ds until at least the next generation, but seeing your previous set-up I don't see why I shouldn't hold onto to them even longer! :T

Looking at them today, I have to say the Matrix series really had a unique and now classic style!

I have had my Matrix for so long that I can't imagine getting rid of them (I still have my Forte Pre-Amp and Tandberg 3006A power Amp). They are in a closet. I am hoping that if I move within a few years I will be able to use them for an office stereo.

Best is to turn off the mind. Of course ... spinning a disc, turning the lights down, forgetting about the equipment and simply allowing the music to dominate your senses can be the sugar that sweetens that medicine.

Best is to turn off the mind. Of course ... spinning a disc, turning the lights down, forgetting about the equipment and simply allowing the music to dominate your senses can be the sugar that sweetens that medicine.

If I go to a dealer and listen to the newer/better speakers, it usually takes about a week before I am happy with what I have... My wife and I have to get new cars this year, so I keep trying to recite the mantra "I have a great system already, I don't need to upgrade..." then I come on here and see threads like yours and I'm like... If I do this with that, I think I can swing it.

I like the before and after pictures. I have been keeping a photographic record of my system changes for the last couple of years and I think documenting changes in this way is a terrific idea. I wish I had started earlier as I have had a couple of pretty neat pieces come and go which I made no record of. I posted a couple of before/after picks down a post or two. It took me a couple of tries to figure out how to upload. HTGuide does not use a standard "upload" dialogue box.
