I completely moved whole AV system to a dedicated room, and managed to get some pics up.

BTW, I gotta exchange a speaker for another one due to mismatched color (1 dark brown, 1 dark red). Dealer sent in a new piece but it is 80kg (boxed) vs the other one is 84.6kg. Why the weight is different?

Very nice setup! What do you have the 802D's on? Is that granite? How and where did you customize from. They look very nice and robust.

          Thanks, Ray!

Yes, I have custom-made granite bases (2 layer per piece) for 802Ds, and each is very heavy (~30kg). In Vietnam, you can easily get those.

I am thinking of removing the middle (low) one (where the pre is on) so that I can have more space (about 25cm on each side) for 802D to get more soundstage (about 30cm from back/side of each 802D)..

A very good idea. Or is it possible to move the Krell amps into the middle section, where the pre is? This could open up even more room for the 802D's. Just a thought.

                Excellent idea.

Also, is it possible for the rear two speakers to not face each other directly?

Now it looks like you will soon need an even bigger TV, or maybe a projector screen? :B

Thanks to Shadow, Steve, Cheng, and Night!

I am facing another "issue" now.

My friend has a power amp Accuphase P550L (270wpc), stereo, and best offer to me. I am thinking if I can get it to power my Center 2D using bi-amp setup (Left out from amp powers lower bridge of 2D, and Right out from amp powers the high bridge of 2D). Will it work? Or will it blow up the amp itself or the center? FYI that I will use "Y" cable to get mono input from Receiver preout.

My second thought is getting an Krell integrated amp (not power amp) like 300i or 400xi to power the rears, thru pre-out from Receiver. By doing this, I can use Krell integrated amp Volume to control the rears separately. Will it work? Or any problem with this setup? I know it's better if using just power amp (no volume).

                    Thanks!

I do not think too much power will be a problem. Somewhere on this forum there is a setup where four big Mcintosh monoblocks power two 800D and the poster loves the sound. If in doubt, tell your dealer to set up a demo with two big mono blocks bi-amped to the HTM2D and see what his reactions are.

Using an integrated amp would work for the rears, but why would you want to separately control the rear volume? The easier thing to do is to calibrate all speaker volumes via your receiver and then let the receiver handle the master volume. Besides, having an integrated amp for the rears means you are adding one more circuit that you do not really need.

By the way, here is the link to the setup I mentioned above. Those are actually not Mcintosh monoblocks, but the idea is the same.

                          Thanks, Cheng!

Looks like I need to invest in either:

                          1) a pair of same power amp (i.e. accuphase around 200wpc): 1 to bi-amp the Center (by Left and Right speaker out to mono pair of HTM2D), and 1 to power a pair of Rear. This may cost me 80-90% of a new Krell mentioned below, but used, not new.

                          2) a Krell 3250 (3 channels). This is more expensive but brand new, and 250wpc class A.

I think opt 2 is reasonable and makes sense since it matches with my 2250, although I like the movements of Accuphase sticks.

Well, I am moving into my new house and most of the place is still in boxes. I did hook up my sherwood and my brand new ref9's to my N802's out in the garage. The room is most likely an acoustical nightmare at the moment, but I will be enclosing it in the coming months/weeks and getting it finished....

Can someone enlighten me on your thoughts and opinions, What would...

I've been told the ASW875's are not yet shipping. I'm pretty close to finalizing the purchase of a 5.1 system with 802D's as the front left and right speakers, and am leaning toward HTM1D for the center. I will probably go with McIntosh MC501's for the front three speakers.

                            This system...

I have just bought a new B&W system. 802D, HTM2D, and 804s. I currently have a Krell KAV2250 and TAS driving the system. I am considering buying a McIntosh 402, Krell FPB400cx, or Nuforce Ref 9. I like the Mac, Krell is pretty expensive, does anyone have experience with the Nuforce and the 802...
