    Well I Did It Again.

I went to my local audio dealer and ended up buying something again.I need to stay away from there. As some of you know from my previous post I was not happy with how my B&W speakers performed for rock.Well I bought a Rotel RC 1070 Stereo pre and all I can say is running it through the 1075 amp I now rock. What a difference it makes from the Sony.Slam bam thank you mam. :B
And I got 200.00 off so that really made my day. Before when I had the Rotel RSX 1057 and RB 1080 I did not like the way they mixed but I really am happy with this setup.I brought the 1070 home to audition and after 3 hours called the dealer and bought it over the phone. My speakers sound soooooo sweeet now.Just wanted to share my joy. :T

      Well Done!

When it comes to 2ch music, the significance of a well designed pre can not be underestimated. HT receivers seldom reveal the potential your music can attain. Rotel 2ch pre's have always been held in high regard, and even the old 900 series still have some of better phono sections and are an excellent and economic choice for putting together a starter system for vinyl.

      As Always, IMHO

So it wasn't the speakers or positioning but the electronics driving them? Interesting. Now the dilemma I currently have is that I'm looking forward to the release of the Emotiva XMC-1 pre/pro to jump into a real pre/pro and not a receiver with pre outs but it's like if I'm pretty much 100% satisfied with the sound/performance of the system now, am I not better off just leaving it alone and enjoying it (and saving money at the same time) or will the Emotiva pre/pro take me to another level of sound quality and I won't know unless I try it? lol.

I notice you mentioned Sony... My two Sony receivers where the worst sounding electronics for 2-channel music I ever owned. Absolutely awful to the point I stopped listening to 2-channel music until I got rid of them, lol. (Going from Carver separates to a Sony receiver was a dramatic drop in sound quality....real dramatic)

Well actually Emig5m I spent the better part of week moving my home theater and all my speakers,couch,pj,screen...ect and thinning down my living room by removing computer desk and some shelves.I moved everything to the opposite wall where I had the whole wall to work with and no door or gap so I could bring the speakers away from the wall and spread them further apart. This did improve the SQ of the whole room even with the Sony receiver...but it is a different ball park with the Rotel. I like yourself was waiting on the Emotive pre's but it is looking to be a long wait.I did not plan on buying the Rotel but it was a steel and new in the box.70% of my listening is for music.I did incorporate the Rotel into my HT also.I have my cd player direct to the Rotel stereo pre.I have the front preouts of the Sony to the auxiliary inputs on the Rotel pre .I have the Stereo pre connected direct to the rotel amps front left and right.I wish there was a easier way as when I listen to HT I have to recalibrate the whole system as I have to set the volume on the Rotel to match the Sony.It only takes 5 minuets.I use the Sony's calibration mic and then check it with my sound level meter. And for HT the Rotel pre incorporates very nicely.I will still be looking to see whats up with the new Emotive gear, but first it has to hit the market and then if you are like me I will wait even longer to see what bugs there are and feedback from users. But for now I am a very happy camper. The Rotel has made a awesome difference and matches very well with my Rotel Amp. :T
As for the Sony it is for my HT .And it does a awesome job for HT.Just sucks for music...but problem now solved. :B

I have an RSP 1066 for HT, and run the front L & R pre outs to my Carver C-19 2ch tube hybrid pre. All of my other sources are run to Carver. I calibrated the 1066 using the Carver, and then put a small red arrow with adhesive backing on the Carver volume knob at the 12 o’clock position.

Now, when I use the 1066, I just put the volume to the 12 o’clock position and all is fine. When I use any other source, all of which have varying output signals, I just make sure the volume is at no more than the 9 o’clock position.

It may seen like a hassle, but after 3 years it is just second nature and to me, a small sacrifice for the refined sound quality the Carver adds to the front main speakers, wether in 2ch for music (vinyl, CD, FM Tuner), or multi for movies, TV, SACD, etc.

I put piece of tape on the volume knob and one at the 12 o'clock position on the front plate.Looks like S#@#....I do not want to put a permanent mark on the unit so will get a label maker from work this week and make something more respectable. Thanks for the idea.

                RSX 1056 and 1070 or 1080 ?
                by Stev
I already have the 1056 and was decided on getting the 1070 to improve the 2ch SQ over the 1080 due to the posted problems with the 1080 - dont seem to exist with the 1070. My mains are 4 ohm nominal load. Question is given that the RSX 1056 is 100w in 2ch will the 1070's extra 30w be noticeable ? Or...

                2 Ch purists...what are my options? rc-1070 or ??
                by tboooe
Hi, I am setting up a 2ch configuration. Right now I have b&w 805s, RB1080, and will be getting the RDC1072 and REL sub very soon. So my question is:

What preamp should I get? It seems that people think the RC-1070 is OK and the RC-1090 was better but it has been discontinued....

                RC-1070 vs RSP-1066 for 2ch analog
                by TommyV
I picked up an RSP 1066 as a backup pre/pro to my 1069. It has been in my 2ch rig pulling duty as a stereo preamp for a while now. I think the sound is good. Much smoother and pleasant than the Parasound 2100 stereo preamp that I had before.

I have been wanting to pick up a real Rotel...

I'm calling upon the immense amount of wisdom here at Club Rotel to help answer whether I can do this potentially strange thing. Sorry if this is covered in a previous post, search reveals nothing useful.

I have an RA-1062, straight 2ch integrated, and I want to know if I can add an...
