Replaced my Bass Driver last night...simple job really. Thought i'd post the pics as promised in case anyone else needed an idea of how to do it etc.

The old driver is slightly grey compared to the new one, although it's hard to see in the pic:

Nice. The 703 isn't that bad to take apart. I've had mine apart simply for the sake of curiosity.

The odd thing is trying to get the first of those two screws started while holding the driver.

I removed a driver on my 800's for a small repair and it was difficult. The wires are short and soldered to the driver and the driver is very heavy. It was nerve wrecking.

What happened to your original bass driver that you needed to replace it?

I still find it amazing that something as simple as a raw driver can look so cool.

I dig the metal used on the motor and the basket.

I didn't find that too bad actually, but I have a track car I mess with all the time so i'm quite handy with tools!

They are pretty basic inside alright, I guess you pay for the workmanship and design etc. Dead easy to do though. I would say it's more difficult on the 800 series ones though. Also I wouldn't like to remove the midrange driver on mine, I wouldn't know where to start with that one....

The black plastic surround turns (counter clockwise I think) or maybe it just prys up (can't remember now) and it exposes the screws to remove the midrange on your speakers Lewisimo.

Incase you want to look inside. :T

I guess with a screw driver it would be pretty easy.

But, when I did mine my tools were at work and I was just screwing around with a Gerber multi-tool. ops:

You'll probably get more mileage by starting your own thread.

However, Rotel amps pair very well with the 703 and might be worth considering.

Sell your amp and get a NAD M3 if you like the NAD sound. You may need to look second hand to meet your budget...only you are in the US so the price is about right.

Whats your room like?. You may get better bang for the buck if you have the ability to tweek your acoustic space,
