Edit: I'm looking for specific albums in general that are your favorites. Specific songs are fine as well but don't just be like "oh so and so is excellent all their stuff is good" I just need something specific to sample before I commit to an entire album

Emma Shapplin (Album: Carmine meo, song: Spente le stelle)
    Sade (Smooth operator)
    Nightwish (Album: Oceanborn - Swanheart)
    Sam Brown (Stop)
Sarah Brightman (Harem (covering Dulce Pontes))
Epica (Album: Consign to oblivion - Solitary ground)

Great jazz vocalist. Her voice is very deep, but full of warmth and she has great control........
      She gets my vote. :T

I can't believe no one has mentioned Joan Armatrading. Try out Me,Myself,I as it is a bit more upbeat than some of her other albums.

I found it hard to stop playing this cd,it is that good! And this is coming from a guy who generally likes the faster, heavier type of music.

I will also back up the other member who recommended Nightwish. Completely different to Joan Armatrading in every way but if a trained female opera singer fronting a melodic metal band sounds interesting, you should try it.

Joan Armatrading's 2008 album "Into The Blues" is also very good.

I have that on vinyl. Well it's my wife's actually. You're right - it's a great album. I saw Joan in concert in 1981 (I think) and that album featured heavily.

                Too weird for me!

How about Sheryl Crow? Don't see her mentioned here. I like her sound, but don't necessarily agree with her politics...

I won't debate whether this is the best or not but I've been playing this to death lately.

Chris Botti concert, new album, and jazz classics
                    by Chris D

I went to Chris's concert tonight in Anchorage, Alaska, and it was absolutely amazing. I'd have to say it was one of the top 3 concerts I've ever been to. It was certainly fun, but the concert was especially tops for all-out, max quality music that was exceptionally tight. Chris's...

New Creed album under the name "Alter Bridge"
                    by Chris D

For those who didn't know, (I didn't until this past week) Creed officially split up, with the lead singer Scott going own way to pursue other things. Well, the rest of the group grabbed a new lead singer, and just put out a new album with the band name "Alter Bridge"....

                    Boston's lead singer gone
                    by Lex
Boston's lead singer Brad Delp died suddenly at his home, alone. No details other than that, and the band says the world just lost the nicest guy in rock and roll. I remember well that studio album Boston when it came out in the 70s. It was powerful, it was extremely well mixed, and it was a huge...

                    Bought my first DVD-A albums!
                    by Chris D
Well, I've reached a new level of craziness. I just bought my first three DVD-A albums, but still don't own a DVD-A or SACD player. (sigh) By signing up for Silverline Records' newsletter, they sent me a free DVD-A sampler, and a Best Buy coupon. You could get $2 off Silverline DVD-A albums, up to a...
