    B&W

    Hi

I have a 30-year old Luxmann L-1 amp and I'm going to buy the B&W 685 speakers or the B&W 684. I've been told that the Luxmann is a very great amp and that it was the top of the market many years ago.
I don't know a lot of these things but I want to know if it's a stupid idea to connect the B&Ws with the old Luxmann. Or do I better buy a new amp?

    Who can help?

    Thanks

    Speaker25,

The Luman referred to appears to be a 2 X 35w integrated amp. It looks like these units are solids state. Does that sound about right?

If that is the case (solid state), then 35w might be a bit light. It all depends on how much current it can put out. Those are nice speakers. they'll perform better with more power.

Hopefully someone with some experience in this brand can help.

Fortunately, there are nice used integrated amps out there for not much money, in case you decide to do that route.

    Hope this helps.

It'll probably be fine unless you want to try and make them play as loud as possible.

Which solid-state integrated amplifier under $400
          by mickster1972
I'm considering a solid state integrated amp for my home office/study (1,000 cubic feet, give or take). If my budget is $400 max, what would you recommend? I will need it to drive 4 ohm speakers (JonMarsh's Modula MTMs, to be precise). I will be hooking my Pro-ject turntable to it and probably also...

          Hi members,
It is most likely this question has been asked, but I cannot find reference to it, so perhaps all it will take is someone redirecting me ...

Anyway I have Rotel 03 series integrated amp and cd player (with B&W 603s).

          I probably would have gotten...

B&W 804S with what pre/amp or integrated amp?
          by nyny
          Hi guys,

I decided to get the new B&W 804S for my dedicated stereo set up, however, I am unable to decide on which pre/amp or integrated amp to power them.

I listened to the 804S with Rotel RB-1080/RC-1090 combo and they sounded good. However, I am a bit reluctant...

Receiver connected to Integrated Amp ?
          by bleeding ears
Hi all, having seen so many good but very cheap used Integrated Amps for sale I am contemplating using one to power my 2 Front speakers.

I currently am using a receiver so I assume I would connect the Integrated Amp to the preouts on the back of my receiver (2 Fronts).

preamp or integrated amp with HT bypass
          by tonych31
My system is consist of Rotel 1068 (pre pro) and Rotel 1075 driving the surrrounds and centers. An Arcam P90 (power amp) is driving the main speaker. Ever since I am satisfied with its HT prowess. However I can't be proud when it comes to 2 channel experience through my Cyrus 6 CD player which is connected...
