    b&w 803s (8ohms) on 4ohms McIntosh MC202?

Hi there.. I borrowed McIntosh MC202 which different terminals for different ohms. Too bad 8 ohms connector is broken, so i can't use it

What if i connect my 803s (which are 8 ohms), to 4 ohms connectors on Mac?

    Thank u

I wanted to ask first to not damage something

Becouse speakers are declared 8 ohms, and i can't use 8 ohm connector on Mac. Only 4 ohm or 2 ohm. (8 ohm connector is broken on the mac i got to try).

So without confirmation from someone that have more knowledge i dont wanted to risk..

What other guys think as well?

Thee has been a lot of postings about running B&W speakers at 4ohms with Mac. I have the 803S with a Mac 352. I used the speakers at 8ohms for about a year and recently switched to 4. I found a sublte difference in teh highs and mid. A definite improvement.

Before this, I asked McIntosh and B&W abpout this direction. Neither warned against and many posters here and on other forums recommended for it. I am going to keep mine at 4.

            Mcintosh MC501 to 802Di's: 8ohm vs 4ohm
            by Highroller
I am wondering about connecting to the 4 ohm taps on the MC501 to my 802Di's. Since the 802Di is rated for 8 ohm can someone tell me what happens when connecting to the 4 ohm taps both from a sound standpoint as well as an electrical standpoint vs the 8 ohm taps? Does more power get send down the...

Value of an amp doubling wpc 8ohm vs 4ohm
            by Gump
I know this has been discussed before but I did a search and it's a hard subject to explain to a computer because I couldn't find anything.

How important is it for an amp's wpc to double from 8ohm's to 4 ohm's? Is it really that big of a deal? And I'm talking pure SQ here.

            EP1500 and RL-p15 dual 2ohm or dual 4ohm?
            by palmtree
That's what I thought. But I have been told that the dual 2 ohm RL-p15 models a little better than the dual 4 ohm. So which driver is considered the best fit for the EP1500, the dual 2 ohm with voice coils powered seperately to each channel or the dual 4 ohm with same setup. Obviously the EP1500...

Can a 8 ohm rated receiver drive 6 ohm speakers?

Also I've read an interesting article:

            "If you hear something of
an "8 ohm amplifier", then we think usually of 8 ohm speakers.

These are amateurs calling for help in the forums,...

can my amp drive 4 ohm speakers?
            by tannista
Definately a noob question here, but I am trying to determine if my Nak AV8 can handle speakers rated at 4ohms, and if so how many can it handle.

Right now I have 2 8ohm speakers attached to it, but I am considering a DIY HT project to build a new set of 4ohm main speakers (a subwoofer...
