Are you sure it is 18hz, not 50 (or 60 depending on what they use in Sweden)?
Obviously it should not do this when just plugged in, with no signal.
If you short out the + and - of the input does it stop? If so there might be
some low frequency electrical noise getting picked up by the input. If not I'd
suspect a problem with the on board amp. Go to your dealer, does their sub do the same thing? If not, take your sub in and see if yours does it there. Could
be a local problem, could be an equipment problem. Determin that first, just changing outlets in your house is not enough to eliminate a potential local problem.- Bottom

Could you plug it in another room with a different circuit?
I had a similar problem and it was a bad grounding installation!
Yes, that is possible now that you mention it!! And I also believe that there is bad ground installation! It plays like a dream, I´ll take it to my inlaws and see what happend! :T- Bottom

by kaeoI just picked up a Yamaha htp-5630 and the output to my sub is in rca format. I mean it's a single plug output similar to the video cable from my dvd player. My problem is that my sub has a different style of input. I don't know what it's called but it's two cables sleeved together; one a positive and...-

by servo01Hello@ All,
I do seem to have a problem with my 1098/Sub.
Usually my sub comes on as soon as I feed it with a Dolby Digital or DTS Signal.
It does not come on automatically when fed with PL II and Stereo.
The setup is correct.
