    Bi-amping 803D's

I own a pair of 803D's which serve as fronts in my home theater system. I drive them, the center speaker, a HTM2D, and four surrounds, B&W Sig 7's, with a McIntosh MC207 which give me 200W into 7 channels. Since I have yet to encounter pretty much anything in 7.1 surround (everything seems to be 5.1), I have been contemplating bi-amping the fronts using the two channels which now run the rear speakers. I should mention that I also have a sub, the Velodyne DD15 which of course has it's own amp. I run the 803D's in large mode, i.e. full range, and just add the sub for frequencies below 60Hz. Since I run them full range, I thought that maybe another 200W (giving a total of 400W per speaker) could be useful since I read a lot about how power hungry the B&W's are. Any thoughts?

I bi amped my HTM1 center with my aragon 4004 (200x2) just because I had the extra channel and wire, figured it wouldn't hurt.

    I say why not.
Others will say it wont do a thing for you unless you pull the crossovers out of the bottom of the speakers.

Anyone have a view on this topic? I would have thought there'd plenty of opinions.

Some of us are plenty tired of the biwiring/biamping discussion. It recurs with annoying regularity.

I intend to bi-wire all my surround speakers. Let's see what happened!
I'm running 2 times the current cable length so I figured that bi-wire could help me keep things almost the same! I do not know about this very well but....

I was responding to his questioning why there were so few responses. Implicit in my comment is that there's lots of discussion available for the searching.

                Kal,

I read that you are getting new speakers. Can you comment?

                Thanks,

No. I have no specific plans but I am always looking for better.

Hmm, that opens up a few possibilities. Better at what price? :W

Whatever I can afford :W and whatever fits in my room confortably. Both preclude the large Wilsons, for example.

However, I am not now strongly motivated; just open to the possibilities.

Thanks for the rude response, Kal. I have looked at various posts but haven't found the answer to my query, i.e. is the McIntosh's 200W/ch enough to drive the 803D's. If anyone, apart from Kal, has a view, I'd appreciate it.

I run 802Ds with the Mc 252 and it is just fine so I think that for the 803s you also be fine with 200watts. It depends on your room size though!

Well, if you had found the other discussions, you would have found that biamping with an additional 200W amp does NOT get you 400w capability but only a small incremental increase in power.

BTW, I am happy with 200wpc driving the 802Ds.

Sorry you took my post as rude as it was not so intended.

And how about conecting a 400W monoblock? will be have more incremental power than biamping with 2 200x2 amps? :T

                                    I'm no pro bi-amping.

                                    I have a 803s with Rotel RB1092.
I have tested to bi.amp. the 803s in my room (5,5meter x 10) but personaly
