I dont have HiFi SV, but I do have TAS and the 685 was named a Top Value product. Seems like this little guy is turning some folks on their ears.Analog: VPI Scoutmaster w/ Steel Delrin clamp + Dynavector 20XH cart

Need help for a complete set-up with 685

We are building a new house
and we intend to buy a the 685s for our living-room. But I have no background with hifi so I need some support:
- what amplifier should I use with 685s - what do u recommend?
- what wires

Rotels fantastic RA-06 integrated would do the job nicely.

The specifications of the 685 says that the recommended power amp is 25w-100W but I think that a pair of 804 need much more power.Originally posted by jack667Comment

So the configuration should look like
Speackers - B&W 685s
Amplifier - Rotel RA-06
Wires - QED Silver Anniversary Bi-Wire 4 x 2,50 mm²
And is missing a CD or DVD player. Any proposals? I saw the DVD player RDV 1093 from Rotel but it cost about 1600Euro. Can I get something cheaper with a acceptable quality.

When I added the 685 as rear supporting the Sonus Domus Grand Piano as main. It really added a new dimension listening to multichannel especially with SACD and music.
It is fantastic for the price. I am really looking forward for 802D sometime in the future.Comment

If you havent already bought the rotel you may want to look into the arcam solo movie 5.1. It's a dvd/cd player + 5x50w integrated that packs a lot of features for it's small size. Knowing Arcam's reputation it should sound good too.Comment

Hello, I am a college student with a limited budget. I am trying to decide whther to get the 65 or the cm1 which is 300 bucks more. I am loking for the speaker with less treble harshness, more refined, and true to the source. I am not sure I can spring for a subwoofer at the moment, so I am worried... -
Just done some critical listening, auditioned B&W and A/B comparisons at the local hifi/HT store.
Is it just me or does the HTM61 sound much, much better than the HTM62?
Also, the 683 sounds so much better than the 685/686 for stereo listening?

But this is for someone who's interested in the 685 and especially an opinion from someone that has moved on down from a pair of 805S to 685 and I know money was an issue but wow.. at times I cannot... -
