well I pulled the trigger today for a new pair of 802D'S
I should have them in about two weeks. I need to get
some box's for my 804 speakers will B&W mail them

Congrats on your purchase! They are amazing speakers... I think I recall a few months ago about someone with same issue as you regarding the boxes. Mail B&W. They'll surely help you out.

I've ordered boxes for my speakers. I recently sold one of my pairs of SCM1's, and my dealer was able to get the original box and packing foam.

Wow - a thread about speaker packaging and its still going after a couple of weeks - amazing.

What I want to know is
- Do the speakers sound better after being in their original boxes or do the new boxes and packaging make them sound better
- If you put a N804 in an 804s box does this effect the phasing (actually I will stop trying to be amusing for a minute and note that the tweeter on the N804 sits further back on the speaker than the 804s - if they send you 804s packing foam it may be necessary to cut the foam at the back of the tweeter - or maybe not depending on how much tolerance there is - if you still have your old foam this may not be an issue)
- not tempted to keep the 804 for surrounds?


and finally, Hallet,your profile says you are a "natural gas pipe line" by trade. I have that problem sometimes as well. Best solution is to stay off the beans :-)

No problem for boxes

B&W will provide you the boxes. The only one available is 804S box and they'll set you back ~$180 a pair with shipping, at least that was the case in January.

Hello Joey. they are great I'm so happy with them I don't have much time on them yet
but they sound so nice even out of the box. they say they even sound better with time
I'm hoping to be able to really spend some time with them.
I will post more later.
