    Hi Gloss 800's series?

In the following link you can see an HTM1D, ASW855 and 801D speakers in a Piano like Hi gloss finish!
Anyone knows if they are going to be realised?

    Thanks!

A lot of speakers come in piano black... I think it looks contemporary, modern, and sexy all rolled into one.

Analog: VPI Scoutmaster w/ Steel Delrin clamp + Dynavector 20XH cart
Digital: SB3 + PS Audio Digital Link III DAC
            System: Cary Audio SLP-98P Tube Preamplifier w/ Sylvanias -> Plinius SA102 Class A amplifier -> Martin Logan SUMMITS/Strata Minis -> 8O (me)

Hopefully they'll offer the whole 800 series in this gloss black. Looks very sharp. :T

I believe that there is only one setup of those that B&W Germany use for shows etc.
At the hi-end show in Munich a couple of years ago they had 5 N801 and two ASW850 in hi-gloss.
It looks great and would be great as an option.

A lot of car manufacturers charge extra for metallic paint. Maybe B&W should charge extra for the high-gloss finish.

Don't you think they are expensive enough?

It is not uncommon for speaker folks to offer piano black as a standard finish but with a higher price. Dynaudio, era, and others offer it for a bit more than other finishes.

Its looks like the ASW850, not the ASW855. The driver is round, unlike the rochell driver.

I really wish B&W would offer this option, it really does look good, I seen another finish called Euroblack, I found a pic of them on A-Gon. I dont really know if I like this finish as much, but it shows what B&W can do.

I don't know if I like this or not. It makes the tweeters stand out even more like sore thumbs. If they offered this option, IMO, they should also gloss black the tweeters. I'm not in FL now to see my 803Ds, but are the tweeters now glossed?

All diamond tweeters are encased in elongated metal housings and finished in high gloss black. All aluminum tweeters from the old and new 800 series are encased in shortened plastic housings and finished in flat black. The exception is the older N802 and above which have their aluminum tweeters fashioned in a similar manner to the diamond tweeters of the new series.

I'm not sure if the diamond housing is metal. Could be a composite stone.

I like the sound of this better. It's more like a composite alloy.

When my 800D's were delivered 2 years ago one of the tweets had a chip. The material that was chipped off was of a white stone color under the black paint? The tweets housing itself under the chip was a white stone material?

That was filler and primer coating. A stone housed tweeter only exists on the Signature Diamond.

They sure use alot of filler and primer, wonder if it is for sound dampening?
