CAV-180 for a HTM1?

Hi there,

Not sure to post this in the Classe club, but since it's also B&W related here we go:
I have a pair of N802, powered by a Classe CA-401 (that's good :P ). I also have a HTM-1 and 2 DM602-S2 as surround speakers.
Currently the HTM-1 and the surround speakers are fed by my old Denon 3300 5.1 receiver (manual says 105Wpc but it's more like 75Wpc). My HTM-1 currently sounds like my old center speaker, an LCR6 (that's bad :cry: ).
I'm on the lookout for a good second hand 5-channel amp to match the other equipment.
Now I have the chance to buy a Classe CAV-180 second hand for about 2500 euros (that's about $3000), maybe less.

Would that be a good deal? It' certainly a good match, being the same generation amps (CA-401 and CAV-180), and as a bonus having the same looks

That seems like a good choice, then you could use two channels for bi-amping your HTM1.

I run my HTM1 on a CAV-180 and could not be any happier with it.

too late, he just sold it :cry:
No drama since the speakers aren't playing very often (lack of a descent room) and the new house is still 2 years away.
I'll keep on the lookout...

small update: found another one, in perfect condition!
Bought it for 2200 euro, that's less than half of the original retail price over here.

Might try to bi-amp the HMT-1, since I only have 6 speakers to amplify and 7 Classé-channels available :P

Hallo tmt.....You can search for a Parasound A21 (2x250) about 2500e,also a Rotel 2x200 or Krell cav 2x250w(second hand) :W .I have the same center and trully needs 2x...
to play right with good sound quallity.

I run a HMT 1 with a Quad 606, biamping. Very nice.
The 606 is an old model; the new one is the 909.

vlasis, errr...I bought it!
I can bi-amp my HTM-1 with 2 180W channels from the CAV-180 so that should do the trick, no? I already have a CA-401 for my mains.

So my search for amps is over...for now :lol:
