    ASW 850 problem

    Hi everyone!

I have a problem, my ASW 850 dont make a sound. Green light on the back is on, relay click is there but no sound. I removed the woofer to check inside cabling and it was fine. I also checked the fuses and they were fine. I have checked different sources so it isn't the pro either.
Anyone that had a similar problem? Approximate cost to fix?(out of warranty)

    Regards Johan.

    Hi Johan,

Just a thought, and will probably not be the answer, but have you tried a different interconnect? I only ask,as i have a fairly thin interconnect to my ASW 750,as i have a long run under carpet. If i lost sound to my sub, this is probably where i would start looking. Also, maybe you could try it connected to another signal within your amplifier,as opposed to different sources?

I think I have an idea:
      You can try these:
(IT IS VERY IMPORTANT THAT YOU TURN THE VOLUME OF YOUR SUB TO THE MINIMUM FIRST)
Unplug the RCA from the Receiver, turn your sub ON then turn the volume knob to about 5% and touch the RCA center pin (from the receiver end), if that makes a loud HUM, your woofer must be fine and the problem is with your receiver settings!

PLEASE BE VERY CAREFULL WITH THE VOLUME OF YOUR SUB, BECAUSE MAKING GROUND TO THE WOOFER WILL PUT IT AT IT'S MAX)

By different source I meant different equipment, I plugged the sub cable to line out from cd player and still no sound.
        Thanks anyway.

I think that misterdoggy had a similar problem with his sub. I believe the amp was the problem. Maybe he will chime in.

            Johan,

I have a Velodyne sub that sounds like it did the exact same thing, the LED would come on when it received a signal, but it wouldn't produce any sound.

I took it to my dealer and it ended up being something with the amp board, which had to be sent in. Of course it was a different company, but it took maybe 3 weeks. Sorry, mine was under warranty, so I have no idea on cost.

I'd check with your dealer. Good Luck!

              Hi, Y'all,
I have a 5.1 system: With a pair of b&W 803's in the front and a pair of B&W 804 for surround, The HTM1 center, and Sub ASW 850 at the moment run by Rotel 1098/1095 combo and Krell amp for the fronts. It sounds awsome in HT and in 5 channel music listening.

ASW 850 sub or ASW 825 sub to go with 803D?
              by Sonic-x
I have recently bought a pair of 803Ds, and I would like to add a subwoofer to go with my 2-channel home cinema.

My local dealer has offered me a demo used ASW 850 for appr. $ 2600. Is this a good deal, or should I go for the ASW 825 which I may get for appr. $2800 from the same dealer....

Got a local guy selling a demo ASW 850 for $700. Sounds like a good deal, but let me know otherwise.

My question is, would my $700 be best spent on another sub? There's a lot of talk on this subject, but I thought I would put this question out there.

              Hi there.

I have a pair of B&W 705 with an ASW 750 subwoofer which I am fairly satisfied with. However the urge to upgrade once again has hit me, so Im wondering about buying the 805s and the ASW 850 subwoofer, or maybe the 825 sub. Im getting a discount on the 850 from my local dealer....
