Why do so few folk post details of their systems when they join this site. it would be so much easier to comment if we had some idea of what you are working with -room details might also help. So long as you don't give any hints as to your real name or address there should be little risk. Maybe everyone thinks people who post here all have nautilus speakers and big dollar amplification. Personally I think people who make their own speakers on a tiny budget have just as much cred (if not more) than the guys that are fortunate enough to own the expensive stuff.
I think the generic answer to this question is in most manuals/ tech info that comes with your speakers - try the manufacturers website and see what is recommended there - either that or just keep them away from walls, put yourself in one point of an equalateral triangle with your speakers and enjoy - then start experimenting to see what changing things does to the outcome.Mac 8gb SSD Audirvana ->Weiss INT202 firewire interface ->Naim DAC & XPS2 DR->Conrad Johnson CT5 & LP70S-> Vivid B1s. I've really enjoyed sitting about seven feet away from my front two 805s (I've got four of them, and an HTM4). This almost qualifies as near-field. Not sure what speakers you have, but just make sure that the distance you sit away from your two mains, is equal to the distance between them.Originally posted by boxer82003what is the ideal distance from the 2 main speakers while listening to 2 channel music, also what distance should the speakers be placed apart from each other- Bottom

Ideally the distance between each speaker should be the same as the distance between your listening position and the speakers.Originally posted by boxer82003what is the ideal distance from the 2 main speakers while listening to 2 channel music, also what distance should the speakers be placed apart from each other
However as others have pointed out, the ideal world isn't necessarily the real world.- Bottom

Guys I found this on the B&W website is this true? "you can use a tape measure (and a friend) to achieve the same result use the measure as a 'sight-line', and have your friend angle in each speaker until you're looking directly at its drive units"- Bottom

by fjhuertaI have a stupid question...
If I measure one speaker in room with an RTA, everything measures fine.
If I measure the other speaker in room, it measures almost the same.
If I measure both speakers at the same time, I get destructive interference from around...-

by FryguyWell, I am building a set of computer speakers, and I made some adjustments to the room and layout of things so that I got a good distance between the speakers and my listening position. Unlike standard computer speakers, I got my current setup (some random audax bookshelves) on stands, each about...-
