B&W 803D - Which Amplifier would you choose from this list?

    Hi,

I have the B&W 803D's. Looking to get the HTM2D centre and the 805S for rears later.

    I have a HK AVR5550 (7x75Watts) at the moment

    Choice for powering the fronts:

Electrocompaniet AW 70 (2x in Bridge)
Norges eldste og største produsent av HiFi og stereoanlegg.

    Arcam AP1000

    McIntosh MC252

    Bryston 4B-SST C Series

They are all about the same price.

I would just use the HK for the moment as the pre-amp/proccessor.

    At a later date:
With the Bryston amp and Processor
With the Arcam and AV700 Processor

I would choose the Mcintosh MC252 for its fluidity in sound.
Arcam AP1000 is underpowered for 803D's

        Hi nick.h,

For my if do you buy later the Bryston Pre buy now a Bryston ampli !!
        (4B-sst & 3B-sst & pre SP2 SPV1 switcher) :T

McIntosh MC252 if money is not a problem ops:

Arcam is not bad but is NOT underpowered or BUT is not what do you need/search = you wanta ampli for only the front? in this moment or????

If i buy a ampli from XX i buy the pre from the same XX company, is sure better.

Well Im looking for something for the moment, however I will be adding a HTM2D and some rears shortly.

So if I get a 5 channel amp saves having to buy a new amp when I get the other speakers.

Or I could just got for the HTM2D and run it on 75watts until I have the month for a new amp.

I had the bryston stuff. Its good... but not as good as classe. Between Mac and Classe, it will come down to preference, as they are both at the same level.
I'm just sittin here watchin the wheels go round and round...

Ive now been offered 2x Bryston 7B ST mono blocks, but again it only powers my 803D's.

                    hmm... this sucks!

                      Review of my new 803Ds
                      by bigburner
Two weeks ago I became an 803D owner.

I can only compare the new 803Ds to the CDM9NTs that they replaced as the combination of my listening room and my gear is one of a kind (as they all are).

The tweeter in the 803D is a big improvement over the CDM9NT, which was too bright...

Power needs of 803D similar to 802D?
                      by jack d
For reasons that I explained in another post I am considering a purchase of some 803Ds (for a second system).

Thinking about pulling the trigger on the mc252 for my 805S
                      by jjahshik32
Would I see a huge difference with the mc252 as to my rotel RA-985 poweramp?

I found one in excellent condition for a great price...

Anyone here that jumped to the mc252 from any other gears that own the 805S or even the 800 series?? I would appreciate any input on this...

                      B&W 803D vs. Celestion A3
                      by Michael Bishop
I've been toying with the idea of replacing my Celestion A3 main theater speakers with something else. I've had the Celestions for about 7 years. They are great speakers - but perhaps a little bit too polite in the base department. There have been some improvements in speaker technology in the last...
