    New N805 Owner !!

    Hi Guys,

    WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!

I finally after 3 years of wanting, got a mint pair of nat. cherry 805's w/ matching HTM2 center. Electronics: B&K Ref 20 pre and 4430 (200wx3)

I've got to get to work, so more later...

Only negative is the very small "sweet spot" in the center.

Big plus is the low end!!

    thx

      Thanks,

OK, my room is 15x20x8 ft ceiling. The speakers are along the longer wall, 6.5' apart. The speakers are only 6"'s from the wall because of pathway problem into the room.

I sit in the center of the opposite wall and the distance from each speaker to me 9.5'.

As I said earlier, the sweet spot is very small, only a foot or so each way and then I hear the voice from the left or right more than the center. I've tried toeing in a little but didn't notice much difference. The Premiers stands that came with them are 29" which puts the tweeters above ear level. Now that I see that the B&W stands are 23"'s, I'm thinking of taking them to a machine shop to chop off 6"'s.

So, overall very happy, I would like to widen the soundstage if possible in this room?

      Any suggestions?

      thx

      bob

Strange... I have the 805S now and from DM602, DM 602 S3, 705, 805S the sweetspot became larger and larger.

Try moving the speakers around a little. Play a little bit with 'toe in' too.

          Good luck

I don't have a lot of "wiggle" room

Do you think being close (6"s) from the wall could make a huge difference?

When is toe-in usually appropriate? Big room? Close to speakers, etc?

            thx

Your room is not exactly small, try moving the speakers about a foot from any room boundaries, and you should notice an improvement in the highs.

Toeing the speakers in will improve the detail in the soundstage, but will also decrease the width of the soundstage. Try a bit of toeing in and see if you like the results.

How close are they to any side walls and do you have any sort of acoustical treatment?

Side walls around 8 ft away. There is a cushy couch fabric couch and loveseat in the room and drapes that probably sucks some life out of the sound. My Dad and brother came over yesterday and the sweet spot is *so* small only the person in the very middle of the couch could hear any centering. Just a little to the left or right means hearing the left or right speaker more.

How critical is out from the wall? I heard you need at least 2 ft?

                  thx

                    N805 Center Channel
                    by skavan
                    Hi all,

A convoluted question (well, 2 questions) for the experts out there...

                    I have a pair of N805's (not the S's).
I need a center channel to mate with them BUT I am space constrained. The Center Channel can be no more than 7" high and 22" wide.

                    Hello all,

I am considering an upgrade to my system and can use some advice. My current setup is:

N805's on the front, HTM2 for the center, a pair of small polk's for surround, and a SVS cylinder sub. I currently have a Denon 3805.

                    I am looking at doing...

                    by bcgator
                    Hey gang,

Thought I'd throw some comments out, maybe spur a discussion. I started putting together a surround sound system earlier this year....added a set of maple B&W 704 (fronts) and HTM7 center to an older pair of ADS L570's (backs) to get myself started.

                    Well,...

I posted this in another forum but would appreciate your comments....

My current setup includes N805 for the fronts, HTM2 center and SCM1 for surrounds. I would like to replace the HTM2 to match the color of the fronts which got me to asking myself whether I should go with the...
