    Dennon avr-5805($3000)Vs Krell kav-400($2200)

Looking for a little help on amp decision. I have a chance to purchase a dennon avr-5805 that will satisfy my home theater setup in the future. Although I am not sure if I like the sound for two channel listening. The dealer is offering a demo unit for 3000.00. The receiver has so many options I am getting lost. The surround sound is great and I would have enough extra amplification to bi amp all the home theater in the future with the Dennon. On the other hand I am thinking about purchasing the Krell kav-400 mainly for two channel listening and later on purchasing a dennon reciever that would produce about 80 watts per channel to run the center channel and rear surrounds in the home theater. I am looking for advice from people who may have gone this route with two amplifiers. IF I went this route I would be left with about 800 dollars in my budget to by a dennon to run and process the home theater. My listening habits are 40 home theaterl and 60 two channel
    Help
Sorry this is for a set of 804s with the matching center and some 602 in the rears for home theater later down the road.
    Thanks

As you say, the Denon will do it as far as features are concerned. But you will never be happy, as you will always wonder what the Krell would have been like.

My current setup is decent amplification with a midrange avr. It works well and future upgrades on the avr side(which will happen) will not be as costly.

How much would a Krell 3250 cost you.

The denon will satisfy you with features, but not with quality audio. Which do you want? Features or quality audio? that goes for HT and 2ch. Especially since you have 800 series speakers.
I'm just sittin here watchin the wheels go round and round...

I am going to the store today to get the krell so I can compare both amplifiers. Hopefully I will be able to make a decision at that point. I believe I will be happy with the lower end denon for the home theater knowing that the two channel is awesome. I will let you know what I thought about the two pieces after a day of listening. Alot of this I believe is in my head knowing that I would be happier with the krell. I need to just listen and forget about everything else and make a decision.
        Thanks

I hooked up the krell and I can't believe how much better the mids highs and lows are so much clearer. Using the krell in home theater makes a huge difference on the front two speakers. They sound so much better. I am going to play with both of them some more but I think I know what I have to do.
          Keep the Krell
          Thanks
