NewClassic 5250 Amp Wins Award for "Best Home Theater Amplifier under $3,000"

Found this press release today on Parasound's public relations website www.gspr.com:

SAN FRANCISCO (4/12/06) – The Parasound NewClassic Model 5250 home theater power amplifier has been named "Best Amplifier Under $3,000" by Home Theater Magazine in their announcement of the 2006 RAVE Award winners.

The Home Theater Magazine's RAVE awards are chosen by the magazine's editors and reviewers based on a product review during the past year. The awards will be presented by Maureen Jenson, Editor-in-chief, at the Home Entertainment Show, which opens June 1st in Los Angeles.

"While I’m not surprised that the Model 5250 won," said Richard Schram, President and Founder of Parasound, "it is still a thrill to have our work recognized in this way by a top magazine. Our product development team did an especially great job with our entire NewClassic series."

Home Theater magazine's Chris Lewis reviewed the Model 5250 in conjunction with the Parasound Model 7100 7.1 channel surround sound controller in the August, 2005 issue. Lewis wrote: "This is a potent combination of performance, features, and value that immediately ups the ante in the mid-priced separates category."

The Parasound New Classic Model 5250 is a THX Ultra2 certified five-channel home theater power amplifier capable of delivering over 250 watts per channel into 8 ohms, and 385 watts per channel into 4 ohms with all channels driven. The Model 5250 is a perfect sonic match for our two-channel Model 2250, and they can be used in combination for a superb 7.1 channel home theater system. Both are protected by Parasound’s exclusive 10 year parts, 5 year labor warranty.

Founded in 1981, Parasound Products, Inc., is a privately owned U.S. company that specializes in providing affordable audio and home theater components to the critical listener. Parasound's products are available from quality audio/video retailers, and select custom installation specialists. For more information, visit www.parasound.com or call 415-397-7100.

Thats a pretty nice award and man that amp looks like a MONSTER! I think I may step up to one from the HCA-1205 A. How much do you think i will gain by this move? Also what kind of money could I get for the 1205 on Audiogon? Thanks guys. J.H.

As someone who owns the 7100,5250 and 2250, I must say they are amazing. They have more than enough power than I will ever need and the sound is nothing short of amazing. You can't go wrong with any one of these components. JMHO. Matt.

        Interested in the NewClassic 5250
        by benezrj
I stumbled on this terrific website by accident (from another web site). I am interested in upgrading to separates and the Parasound 5250 is at the top of my list because of reputation, sound quality, cool running (I have to place it in an AV rack), and power (to drive my Polk LSi speakers).

Just got my new Parasound NewClassic 2250. It sits along with my 7100 and 5250. So far I am very very impressed with it (thanks Brent). I will write more after playing with it and taking some time to really listen to it. My next step will be upgrading the speakers. The upgrades never end......

        Is a Sherwood P-965 "below" a 5250?
        by CP-Mike
I've all but decided on purchasing a Parasound 5250 amp to partially cure my latest outbreak of upgrade-itis. The other partial cure is a pre/pro. Currently I have my eye on the Sherwood Newcastle P-965. I really like its features, and many others seem to like it, I'm just worried that it may not...

This is by no means a new DVD, and even the movie itself is 12 years old by now. But it's still one worth discussion and recommendation. Multiple Oscar and other award nominations and wins.

This one's fairly high on my list of favorite movies. For those who haven't seen it, Richard...
