    ISO - Subwoofer Advice

Hi folks. I'm currently running a 5.0 setup with no subwoofer. N802 up front, HTM4 in the middle and N805 in the rear. I've never really missed the deep bass because the N802 do a fine job. Nonetheless, I do realize for movies (which I only watch occasionally) I'm not getting the full effect.

My problem is that I live in an apartment building. While my system can be cranked to levels well beyond very-loud, I need to cognizant of the fact that I am literally surrounded by neighbours. (They're everywhere! to the left, the right, below and above!)

How many of you out there are in a similar environment with the neighbours in very close proximity? How do you handle the deep, rumbling bass of a subwoofer without annoying the heck out of the locals?

Damping feets. It will be a lot better but if you crank it up your neighbours will still be shaken. Only way around it is to build a room in the room but I guess you're not up for that?

I also have N802's and I'm using ASW850 and all I can say is that once you hear that in your system you will always miss it if it's gone. You're not anywhere near with just N802's.

    Johan.

Can't really be done without some real expense. Unfortunately apartment life will limit your bass enjoyment unless all of your neighbors support you. Good HT bass can travel even beyond the apartments attached to your apartment, to some that are attached to them depending on the construction materials of the builiding. It's the physical connection throught the builiding that you can't beat. Damp the room as best you can, use spikes to decouple from floor and be sure to invite all potentially effected neighbors to all you parties. :W

        Acoustic treatment for Apartment HT

        Hey!

I posted another thread about my HT room size in an apartment block I'm considering moving in to.

My current apartment block has concrete floors between the storeys, and although I can hear people walking from time to time on the floor above, it is usually quite quiet....

Will Spiking Stop Neighbors from Going Mad?
        by EastCoaster
Hi there! I've learned a lot about spiking in recent days from member posts, and was wondering whether you think that spiking a B&W ASW 825 sub (or even my 805S) will reduce the punishment I'm delivering to my neighbors :W (I live in an apartment) while keeping high performance?

        1550 or separates for apartment?

I would like to upgrade my Rotel 1056.
I have been looking at what pioneer has to offer- I am tempted by the Class D ICE of the SC25. (My television is a Pio Kuro and Blu ray is the 51FD)
but i still want to give Rotel a fair shake.
The 1055 seems like the best bet.
        I live...
