I'm not sure as this should be here on the B&W forum even if you do have B&W speakers.

There are so many imponderables in the chain that you can never get a sensible answer - e.g.: -

      Cartridge
      Arm
      Phono preamp
      Processor
      Power amp
      Cables

Just the coice of T/T wont make any impression on the other itemsas long as you dont get a Dansette Autochanger ! ! !

I use a VPI Scout / Dynavector 20x5 with N801's. Great table and cart, but not necessairily better than a good CD player (or even as good depending on the recording). Records are hit or miss as far as noise, etc.

Remember, for the price of a good table and cart along with a record cleaning machine you can get a really good CD player (especially off of Audiogon).

so who knows what about turn tables? all i know about 'em (technically) is that some are belt driven and some are driven directly by motors under the turn table. can anyone recommend a good turn table? i've seen the nad 533 and it's a beautiful looking unit, but is there anything...

            by Lex
would lock tight in the bottle be a good option, or some other suggestion. I broke two legs off this table that means a great deal to me. There is a lot of wood to glue, so that is the good news. It's a small table, so not a huge amount of stress. I tripped and fell and broke them. I broke one...

            12v triggered power bars
            by DeanP
Does anyone know if they make 12v triggered power bars?
I have a new/used Rotel amp coming but doesn't have the "12v trigger power on" on it. I want to have it come on automatically when I turn on my reciever. This way it makes it more WAF friendly with less buttons to push on just...

            TURN--entertaining colonial American history series
            by Ovation
Available on Netflix (in Canada, at any rate) and various other media, TURN is a series (four seasons) set during the American Revolution. As I have been prepping a fall course on US History to Reconstruction, I have been looking for suitable excerpts to illustrate various aspects of the colonial/revolutionary...
