    Review 1 of 133

    Price Paid: $8000.00

    Summary:
I've been trying to live with these speakers for almost a year now. They just plain hurt my ears. I like dynamics and sound stage. The pink noise is too exagerated. I toed in the speaker and turned my chair sideways, but the soundstage did not improve. My receiver worked well with my Bose speakers. There seem to be a problem with the bass. It sounds fuzzy with weak harmonics.

    Strengths:
    Wood finish

    Weaknesses:
    Treble and midrange projection

I found this on audioreview.com. The funniest line is "My receiver worked well with my Bose speakers". OMG, lol

    another one - even better B&W N804

Ok, this guy was clearly sarcastic towards some guys who reviewed N804 and rated them too low. Please read bellow. The guy is hilarious.

    Review 5 of 136

    Price Paid: $3500.00

    Summary:
I bought a pair of these speakers based on my ex-mother in law’s recommendation. They replaced my 15-year-old Cerwin Vega speakers. I don’t know the model number, but they have a 14” bass driver. My cables are standard Monster Cable that I bought 15 years ago. All of my electronics are made by Technics. The bass and treble are turned up to about 75% on my receiver. My DVD player plays MP3 files, so all of my music is in that format now. MP3 allows me to listen to 5 hours of music on one CD! I mainly listen to hip-hop and dance club music. I like to feel the vibrations of the music. The vibrations make stand up on a chair and dance like a porn star. With an Old Milwaukee in one hand and my package in the other, I thrust my hips forward and back. Faster then slower and occasionally side to side. But I digress. The B&W speakers really disappointed me. It sounded like they didn’t even have a bass driver. They produced sounds, but no vibrations at all. Plus I heard strange noise coming out of my music that I never heard before. Even after I put on my bathrobe and sunglasses, I couldn’t get into the grove with these speakers. Overall, my old speakers blew these speakers away in every category. I ended up returning them. I’m looking for something better than I already have. I wished I had back the hours that I spent reviewing these speakers. Lessons learned . . . never take your ex-mother in law’s advice.

For someone who buys a set of B & W speakers (for $3500.00), and doesn't know the model number, clearly there should be a law that prevents this from happening. Maybe a pre-purchase quiz....?? :??

My non-audiophile buddy was over at my place and he like the looks of my N802. He happened to have a CD with him so I popped it in and he was just floored by the sound quality. He said he was able for the first time to tell where the instruments were. His current sound "system" is a Sony all-in-one that probably cost less than $500. It's big and flashy and I must admit, has a pretty cool remote control but that's about it.

His question - "If I buy speakers like these and hook it up to my boom box, will I get sound like this?"

My neighbor says that the only reason people buy high end items like these, is so they can tell people how much they paid for them.

? for N802 owners -upgraditis setting in
                      by jclyle
                      Hey-
With the colder weather setting in & more time being spent indoors, I feel a nasty case of upgraditis coming soon... A question for the N802 owners out there.. what size room do you have them in? I have a 12x15 living room that is for stereo stuff only. one side has a doorway that opens...

                      804s vs. N802 dilemma
                      by sprakash
                      Hi everyone,
I am in the upgrade mode and like some others here, am trying to decide between the outgoing Nautilus series vs. the incoming ones.
Currently I have N804, HTM1 for the fronts, 602s for the rear, and an SVS sunwoofer, driven by a Bryston 9BST and a Meridian 565 pre/pro....

                      N803 vs N804 for surround

                      Room 15' x 39'
                      listening = 90% HT, 10% music

I bought a pair of N802's for the front.
I will use (future) N805 for rear.
                      HTM1 center.

Now, to fill the middle, N803's or N804's? The cost difference is not that much but is there much difference...

My new toy for the N802's
                      by dan87951
Picked up a Classe CA-301 power amp to power the N802's. Kinda went over my original budget but I think it was worth it! Hopefully this amp has enough kick to really make these babies sing! Amp arrives friday can't wait. Might have back trouble getting it down there stairs as this monster weights in...

How good was the N802 ?
                      by Edgeyboy
                      I have a pair of circa 2001 N804 (not S model).

I have an option to upgrade to either a new pair of 803S or a S/H pair of circa 2003 802 (not D model).

I have tried the 803S - fuller sound, bigger soundstage than the 804.

                      I can't try the 802 as they are S/H....
