Why didn't B&W use dual midrange in 800 series?

Do you guys think that there would have been a benifit if B&W had used dual 150mm (6”) Kevlar cone FST midrange drivers in the 803s and up?

Maybe in the centre channels aswell?

Why should they? The only positive reason to use more than one is to increase power handling. The downsides include bulk, weight and driver interaction that screws up polar radiation patterns.

So, unless there is a power handling problem, there's no good reason.

I would have to agree. Adding another driver in the setup is much easier said than done, it changes a lot of the parameters.

Exploring Common DIY Terminology - Dual Voice Coil (DVC)

          Dual Voice Coil (DVC)

A dual voice coil (DVC) design is a configuration commonly used in loudspeaker drivers, particularly subwoofers. It involves a speaker driver with two separate voice coils wound on a shared former (the cylindrical structure that holds the voice coils), each connected to its own set of terminals. Each voice coil is wound with its own wire, and they are physically separated but located on the same former. The former is connected to the speaker cone, which moves in

150mm (6”) Kevlar cone FST midrange: Do they all run on the same frequency?
          by nick.h
          Hi,

I have noticed the 804s/803s/803d/802d/801d/800d all use the 150mm (6”) Kevlar cone FST midrange driver. Are the crossover for this all set to be the same? Do they all run in the same range?

What about the 805s the 6.5" Kevlar, what frequency does it run at?...

          Dynaudio dual tweeters/HE2006 micro-report
          by Paul W
Someone here asked about the Dynaudio dual tweeter configuration vs. comb filtering. I had a chance to see them in action at HE2006 this weekend...the tweeters seem to share a common highpass, but the upper tweeter is rolled off on the top end...no surprise. This show gave me my first opportunity...

Recommend midrange and tweeter for dual 7" illuminator speaker
          by kabeer_g
          All,
I have had this design in mind for almost 5 years but thinking of pulling the trigger now.

          Here are the broad parameters:
          1. Size: Roughly speaking 40" tall, 9" to 10" wide and 14" to 15" deep (so about 80 - 90 liters)
          2. Woofers: Dual 7"...

Modula MTM with Dual 15" Sealed BassBin?
          by 1Michael
Hello all. Well after having listened to the big RS 3ways for some time I am still left wanting more bass, so I have decided to stop messing around and use dual 15'' bass bins to get some real kick in the chest action. I am looking at the Dayton Series II, ST385-8 with:
          Power handling: 300 watts...
