Need a Sub for 600 series HT?

I'm planning a completely new set, based upon the B&W 6-series.

    Front: 2x DM 604 s3
    Center: LCR600 S3
    Back: 2x DM601 S3
    Back-center: 2x DM600 S3
    sub: REL R-205

My budget is limited so that's why i go for the 6-series.

Feel free to advise if you think i'm making a mistake here

If i want to use the set mostly for Concert dvd's and audio and some movies is it safe to go for this set to leave the sub behind and put that money in the rotel equipment or would i miss it directly ?

    kind regards,

Hello Mega, Welcome to the forum!
Looks like a nice setup that you are planning to buy :T , the 600 series is a great speaker line, so no mistake there. What type of power do you have now to push these? I think that using the 604's you may not miss a subwoofer right now, and would go towards the Rotel purchase, I would advise that you keep your back speakers all the same though. Either all DM600's or DM601's.

      Bah, I already posted this on your Rotel post, so I'm just pasting in my reply (;

Well, if you need to save a bit on speakers, to up your electronics, you could go with only a 5.1 system to start, and then pick up the surrounds or rears later...

You could also work in an upgrade, by only getting 600's for your surrounds initially, wait a bit to save up some more, and then buy a pair of 602ss for your surrounds, and then move the 600's to rear...

Or if you want to go 7.1 right away, you could try 4x 600s3 for surround and rear... Not sure what your surround music listening preference is though, so if you want to get into multichannel music, getting 602's down the road for your surrounds might be a good choice.

I'm sort of going that route, but in reverse. My current room doesn't have the space for floor standers, so I'm running 602's for front, 600's for surround, and LCR 600 center.

Down the road when I go to a 7.1 system, I'll buy 604's for the fronts, and move the 602's to the surround, and use the 600's for rears...

        another option perhaps....

Would it be wise to use my current set DM 580 frontspeakers as rear speakers, to gradually upgrade the set ?

Or would that not we wise and for what reason ?

They still sound good in 2ch. mode on my present JVC receiver.

        Thanks for the advice,

            Should I keep 600s/exchange for 602s?
            by BlazeMaster
Hi, everyone I just got my 600s almost 2 weeks ago, and am thinking about exchanging the 600s for 602s. I can then put the 602s in front to match the LCR600 better and keep my 601s that I have as fronts right now and then use them for surrounds. The price difference would only be about $300. The...

if you visited my thread "serious problem with my 600series". You would know my situation.

Complete 600 HT system or 1 pair of 804S
            by mikeymotorcycle
I am in a predicament. I can get a demo pair of 804s for 2895+tx. Or for a few hundred more get a complete 600 (604s,600center,675 sub, 602 rear) for around 3500+tx. I have listened to both in stereo and of course there is no comparison. The 804s are the best speakers I have heard. Although I can't...

            by jack d
            Hi,

I've got a second system that is comprised of 603S3s in front, LCR60 center, and 602S3s for surrounds. The processor is a NAD T-762. I want to upgrade. I was thinking of getting a better center speaker and also replacing the processor. Since this is a second system I don't want to...

            Upgrading to Delta 600 amplifiers?
            by Oddiophile
            Need your thoughts/opinions on this.

Currently I have 3 CA-M400 amps driving a pair of B&W 800D speakers and one B&W HTM1D speaker. I am wondering if it would be worth my while to upgrade to the new Delta 600 amps.

The trouble is that I have not heard the new 600...
