Going separates (805 vs Bryston & Denon)

Hello Guys!! I'm glad to be a new member of this forum.

I'm considering upgrading my system. Right now I've 4 N805 as mains and surrounds and an HTM2 as a center all of them driven by a Denon AVR-4802 (120x7). I was thinking in a Bryston 9B SST amp (120x5) and using the Denon as prepro. I use a ASW800 sub for frequencies below 80 hz and the speakers handle the rest. I've read that the Bryston is an excellent amp but, do you think that it will be a major upgrade considering that I don't need too much bass in the speakers it will be driving?

Thank you in advance for your advice.

I think you will notice some difference going to Bryston form Denon, especially at louder volumes, but the more noticeable upgrade will come when you replace the Denon with a better pre-pro.

You should try to get a new pre-pro along with the power amp, but if $ doesnt allow it just look at the power amp as a sort of necessary evil for entering the world of separates. :T

Thank you Miroku for your response.
Yes, this is my first step into separates. My plan is to upgrade the Denon with a Bryston pre-pro in a near future. Since I've never had the chance to compare separates vs. receivers in the real world, especially on my system, I was wondering if the money that I will spend on separtes will be worth it. Here in Mexico City I don't know many hi-end stores and the ones I know have limited gear. That's why I rely too much on reviews and forums like this. So, thank you again for your help.

This doesn't directly answer you, but I just got a bryston sp2, and it is amazing! The imaging in 2 channel bipass are absolutely incredible. I upgraded from a sherwood p-965. I couldnt decide between this and the classe. when it came down to it, the byston offered me everything the ssp-600 did at a considerable cost savings.

I am using NuForce ref9's for my front 3 speakers. I am considering te 9b sst for my surround speakers later this year.
I'm just sittin here watchin the wheels go round and round...

I've already bought last weekend the Bryston 9BSST amp, and I can tell without listening too much that it makes a lot of difference over the Denon Receiver. It seems first hand to be a great amplifier to my N805's, but I will need more time to write a proper review.

For a long while I have been grappling with imaging and brightness issues with my system. I had thought it was a problem with power but have recently discovered that it is a component issue. My setup is as follows:

              Supratek Sauvignon tube pre-amp
              Bryston...

I recently finished a very simple audio setup in our bedroom composed of B&W 602s3 speakers, Rotel Ra-01 integrated amp and Rotel RCD-1072 cd player. I must say that I'm enjoying it

I'm now slowly embarking on a HT install for our TV room. Got most of the equipment except for...

No, we didn't watch The Godfather. However, we did kick off a day-long audio session with some fantastic cannolis (thanks Jim). Furthermore, we all wrapped up the day with the same thought in mind - leave the sub, take the amp! The Nuforce Reference 9 amps to be specific. Before I go further, let me...
