    B&W with Anthem

Looking for some opinions on a possible upgrade path!
I am considering upgrading to the 802d and was wondering if my P5
would have enough power to drive them to their potential!!

i have an option on a pair and i am considering that upgrade path.

    Thanxs for any input!!! :T

If I read the specifications correctly online and it is 325 watts/ch, then yes, it should drive them fine. I've been driving mine with a Bryston 9B SST, which is 140 watts/ch each speaker, and I have also bi-amped them with the same amp. The only difference I noticed was that they sounded better when not bi-amped, likely due to the quality of the y-cable adapters I was using, which were a total pieces of crap. The speaker is rated by B&W for amps with 50-500 watt outputs, they seem to be very on target with their amplifier ratings, and the speaker itself has a stated 90 dB sensitivity in its specifications (though Jon Atkinson of Stereophile measured it at 89 dB which is not a significant difference).

As far as amplifiers go, quality is more significant than quantity of watts/ch. I don't know much about Anthem, so I can't state any educated opinion on the pairing. The previous statement is true not only because it takes significant increases in watts to make nominal changes in the SPL ceiling before clipping occurs, but also because an amplifier company can easily manipulate their stated (in the specifications) watts/ch in ways that fool the consumer without lieing.

Thanxs for the reply the p5 is a true 325w per channel x 5
as it has individual power suppies for each channel 8)
The concern i had was some posts i've came across with some individuals using power amps in the 500-700 watt range and claimed they needed that kind of power the "bring the speakers into their element" 8O I guess i will just have to audition them myself :B

I am currently powering an HT setup (603S2, LCR6 S2, 601S2) w/ a Rotel RSX-1056 (5x75 watts). I have the opportunity to get a new Anthem PVA-2 stereo amp (125 watts/side) at a good price. Anybody have any experience w/Anthem amps paired W/ B&W 600s for stero music? Or would I be better off with...

RB-1050 and Anthem Compatability Issues...Please Help
        by Evan Scussel
Recently I sold my Anthem MCA-5 power amp to upgrade two channel performance. The amp I ordered for main L/R is on order and I decided to buy a used Rotel RB-1050 to power surround speakers down the road, but until my main amp arrives, the RB-1050 is my main amp. I bought it used.

        Immediately...

I'm currently using a Marantz 5400 AVR to drive Paradigm Studio 100 fronts and CC-570 center. I've had the Marantz since I started this expensive hobby with a pair of Mini-Monitors. Now that I'm up to the big boys, I feel like I need some more power.

My dealer has recommended both Rotel...
