    Sudden Harsh sound from B&W

I recently received a new pair of 804S from B&W after my original pair was found to have cosmetic flaws. My new pair has over 100 hours on them but have suddenly become extremely harsh sounding. The pair I returned had around 150 hours on them and never had this sound to them. The new pair sounded very similar to the old until now. Has anyone experienced sudden harshness during the break-in period? Could it be the bass changing? I don't have any idea what to expect from break-in? I know I have a bright room but even at medium volume it hurts to listen?

Check for connection problems (polarity), speaker placement, or room changes (did you remove a rug, open your curtains or something...). And if you have some A/V unit or whatever, check if you (or someone..) changed some settings in it.

Equipment "breakin" all in our heads?
        by hal
When I hear people discussing the impact of "breakin" on their listening experience I often wonder whether this is not simply dependent upon the time it takes our ears to adjust to a new reality. If you've ever had your ears cleaned out of wax buildup you will notice a very dramatic change...

RSX 1055: sudden sound problems when turning on the unit
        by sirbogey
Has anybody come across this? I've had the RSX1055 for 4y plus, running without any glitch. 1 Month ago, I hooked up the DVD with a 12V trigger cable. Don't know if this relates to my problem or not.

Last week, suddenly, when I turned the Rotel on (before turning on anything else), it...

        Breakin time?
        by mr_m687
I hooked up my B&W 804S's yesterday for the first time and gave them a good 5 hour listen. They sounded good a little on the bright side but better than my old Paradigm 7's. I'm wondering what changes other owners have noticed during breakin with their new speakers. I think they are great so...

        CD Player requires breakin?
        by akhter
Or am I just imagining things (quite possible).

Last week I got an Arcam CD73T after comparing it with the Arcam CD192/Linn Genki/Naim CD5x, and found the entry-level arcam to be the best value by a long-shot. All the other players were similarly priced ($1700-1900), and the Arcam gave...

If you were to own another pair of speakers (not B&W) which would it be?
        by rodH
OK, if price were not as much of an object as it is now (I am currently running N804), the speakers I have been MOST impressed with, EVER are the Wilson Watt Puppies. I was in a high end store and they actually carried 3 brands that I am/was really interested in (B&W, Wilson, and Revel).
