    Some help translating N802 specs

Here are some specs on my N802

    - Freq. Response
    39Hz - 20kHz ± 2dB on reference axis
    - Freq. Range
    -6dB at 27Hz and 30kHz
    -3dB at 34Hz and 22kHz

    1) What's the difference between Freq. Response and Freq. Range?
    2) In Freq. Response what's "on refence axis?"
    3) Why does Freq. Range have 2 sets of values?
    4) Finally how low will this speaker go while still sounding good? I'm trying to figure where to set my crossover.

Frequency range is just telling you the drop off at the extremes...e.g., to get a -6dB drop in loudness your at 27Hz & 30 Hz.

Between 39-20kHz the speakers are within ±2dB...which is AWESOME! Hence the price tag. But note this is only if your sitting on the refercence axis. Outside this axis I'm assuming it increases.

Based on numbers alone...40-50Hz would be a good crossover point. But there are much more variables to consider, especially room accoustics.

I wish B&W would just release the actual frequency response curve in addition to their -6dB & -3dB values.

Does someone have these? I'm wondering if they're not included with the speakers when purchased. I bought mine dealer demo and do not think I recieved them.

Inline with the speaker or within a certain 'arc'. I believe its like 15 or 30 degrees radiating from the speaker in the horizontal and vertical planes. It should say in the specs.

How To Improve B&W N802 Bass Response?
          by jteoh1
I’m not satisfied with the bass response of my current system in stereo. It seems weak and doesn’t seem to fill the room at low to mid volume. I’m looking for any ideas or suggestions on improving the bass response. My application is mainly 50/50 stereo music / multi-channel HT. Listening room...

          N802 vs 803D
          by Jeff
I have read all the comparisons between the N802 and the new 803D's. What I can determine, most (not all) feel the N802 have not been beat by the 803D's. Each speaker has it's strong point, but niether is the clear winner. IMO the speaker with the best midrange/tweeter combo should win (for a number...

N803 upgrade to N802, Is it worthwhile?
          by chin kwan
I am currently using Proceed PAV+PDSD feeding Proceed Amplification for the center channel, using Mark Levinson 23.5 driving front channels, cheap amplifier driving the rear surrounds.

My current set-up are as follows: N803, HTM1 and SCM1. I had a Mirage BPS-400 sub that I sold recently.....

? for N802 owners -upgraditis setting in
          by jclyle
          Hey-
With the colder weather setting in & more time being spent indoors, I feel a nasty case of upgraditis coming soon... A question for the N802 owners out there.. what size room do you have them in? I have a 12x15 living room that is for stereo stuff only. one side has a doorway that opens...

          Discount on N802
          by Ash
Hi everyone, I need your opinion on this matter. My B&W dealer has a N802 brand-new, he's offering it to me for $7,450. Do you think that this is a good price for this to be replaced model. I have read amazing reviews about the N802 and I only dreamt about having this speaker.
