old HTM-1 or new HTM-3S, still not sure!

I'm still not sure what to do about this.

It's still possible to buy a new HTM-1 for about 1750 euros (newprice last year was 2250), with all B&W warranty. But it won't take long before there are none left, unless I buy a second-hand one, but most people want close to what I can buy a new one for.

A new HTM-3S costs 2500 (minus the 10% B&W discount you should always get!) so that's 500 more. 500 doesn't sound much in the high-end world but it's 25% more for almost the same speaker.

Will The HTM-3S sound noticably better? The specs are somewhat different, the tweeter should be the "signature" one. I've never heard one of the signature speakers so I don't know if there was a lot of difference between the normal tweeters and the signature tweeters.

PS I will match it with N802 speakers. For best uniformity I should pick the old one but if the new one sounds a lot better I would rather get that one, unless it's really different in sound, but I don't suspect that. Then again unless you compare them side by side you wouldn't hear much difference I suppose.

I would probably get the old one to stay in the series. The new series does have an improved tweeter and FST but it may sound different when paired with the 1st gen nautilus.
I'm just sittin here watchin the wheels go round and round...

I agree. Stick with the old series for better matching.

        N803, N805, HTM1 with Arcam P7 - will it do?
        by audiophile
I was wondering if the Arcam P7 has sufficient power to drive a surround set of Nautilus B&W speakers 803/805/HTM1(the 'old' one, not the new ones). I believe the P7 is 7x135W so you could use 4 channels to bi-amp the 803's.

Anybody experience with the above combination..?

FS-HTM HTM1 and HTM3S stand. Can they be tilted?
        by tdiciple
        Hi all,

I need some info regarding HTM3S or HTM1 stand. The FS-HTM. According to some website, they say that it can be tilted for between 0-8 degree. Is that correct?

Can anyone out there whom have the HTM3S verify this?

Also what is retail price for this...

so Center Channel experts...what's your take on HTM1, HTM3S, HTM2D?
        by ssabripo
i purchased the HTM1 from a fellow member, and have been reading up on the reviews and differences between them.

the general consensus is that the HTM1 and HTM3S are practically identical in performance (generally speaking), but that the HTM2D obviously sounds different due to the Diamond...

        HTM1 with 803S
        by mpauline
I have been trying to put together a B&W system by purchasing speakers when the rest of the forum members upgrade

I currently have an HTM1 that I was going to pair with 803's however would the 803S be a better option for an upgrade? My system is for home theater. I realize...
