Any had a chance to own or listen to these babies? What are your impressions? I have a chance to buy them over Matrix 803 Series 2.

Great speakers - they do however demand a decent amount of space to sound their best.
Also they will output what you give them - aka. give them a poor signal and they will sound poor, but if you feed them properly, they will sound great.
Finally, you cant really give them a powerfull enough amp - not in terms of number of watts, but more in terms of ability to drive in low impedance.. -

As many of you, the Matrix 801 were a dream from the very beginning, when falling into Hi-Fi clutches. Years have passed and finally I could bought a pair of 801 Series II second handed (white ones), while now I also got another pair of 801 (black ones), but in Series III.... -
Many non B&W lovers really have NO idea just what a great speaker they were.
I cut the Zobel capacitor in mine, and relocated a couple crossover inductors.
I have the B&W "Van Alstine mod sheet" for the Matrix 801 series 2's if anyone needs it ?

In the thread 'How to replace tweeters on Nautilus and Signature speakers' DM3000 Owner answered my question about replacing tweeters on the Matrix 801 S3 (and S2) as follows:

You can do it two ways. Both require removing the tweeter housing.

I just discovered that the boxes with mid/tweeter on my Matrix 801 series3 are loose, on my 802's it's possible to angle them in/out but they are really tight back/forward, up/down.
How are the boxes on top fastenend, is there a way to tighten up the thing holding the boxes so it moves... -
Does anyone have any experience with North Creek's crossover upgrade for the Matrix 801? Worth it?
