DTS Studies Brainwaves to Prove Sound Really Matters

I got notice of this article today. It's fascinating, with multiple implications for the future of HT, and streaming media. The author really hits some good reminders at the end, to consider what settings apply to studies and use of particular technologies. I'd say this is a mandatory read for A/V enthusiasts.

DTS did have a good presentation at CES this year.

It’s been said that the sound associated with watching video is “half” of the experience. But is it really? Or is it actually more than half? Or less? Answering this question was the goal of a clever study recently commissioned by DTS, with an eye toward promoting its new DTS Headphone:X technology. For those unfamiliar, Headphone:X has been at the heart of one of the more impressive CES show demos for the last two years running.

Fascinating !! But....not surprised by the results at all. Many people watching stuff at my place react to the great sound quality and are 'moved' by it. Sound REALLY matters!!.

of course....we here ALL know that! :T

I am absolutely stuck for ideas and I dont know which manufacturer is best for which product. I know what I want - its a matter of finding a good solution from a good brand and getting the right mix of products.

      by chinets
      Hi Everyone,
I am using a RDV 1050 loaner from my dealer here, because my RDV 1060 had a major manufacturer problem in the laser allignment.
The RVD 1050 loaner was working fine for the past several days with DTS and everyhting.
Now yesterday ,when I tried out a DVD, because...

      1098 and DTS 96/24 bug?
      by Locutus2k
      Hi!
I'm a new proud owner of the Rotel 1098 and i'm very happy with it. The only strange thing i've noticed (a bug, maybe?) is with DTS ES 96/24 decoding. If i set back surround channel off, using the rotel in a simply 5.1 configuration, DTS ES 96/24 soundtracks appears to be decoded as "simply"...

But first to check if your 5.1 works fine.....

Download the last item called "Multichannelcheck" in either DD or DTS. It's in Swedish but that makes no difference, it will do the job.

      Then an additional...

Hey guys I may or may not have an issue. I noticed when I watch regular satelite programing with DTS I have zero sub sounding bass. With dolby digital on the same station I do. I have watched movies with DTS and never noticed the lack of sub. When I select DTS I made sure it was cinema not music, although...
