    12v trigger question

I know there have been several threads on 12v trigger issues, so I hope you will indulge me. I have an Onkyo receiver with pre-outs and 12v triggers for 2 additional zones. I am using an old 5-channel receiver to power those 2 zones, and have dedicated 2 channels per zone. The old received lacks a 12v trigger input so I am currently turning it on and off manually. I'd like to use a triggered power strip to turn it on when one or both extra zones are activated. My question has to do with wiring the Onkyo triggers to the outlet strip.Could I just use a Y-connector of some kind to feed the 12v output signals from the Onkyo to the single 12v input of the power strip? Would this provide an appropriate signal when one or both zones is activated? Or do I need something more sophisticated to prevent damage to the Onkyo and/or make the outlet strip work correctly? The 12v triggers on the Onkyo have different current capacities, one can generate up to 250 mA and the second up to 50 mA.

Thanks in advance for any help.

You will need something betweeen the two outputs. Easiest way would be two diodes, each in-line on the 12v+ lines. This would let 12v flow towards the power strip, but not back towards the other 12v trigger.

The biggest question is whether your receiver will automatically turn back on after you have power removed for a period of time.

      Hi all,
I recently had a new home threatre installed which consists of my current Onkyo 787 receiver acting as a processor and new Rotel RMB-1075 and RB-1070 providing the amplification for a 7.1 setup (which sounds fantasic btw). The problem being that my Onkyo doesn't have a 12 volt trigger...

Using 12v trigger to run accessory fans
      by cmr15
I've got a 1067 which runs rather hot, and I'm aware that that's the norm. I'm about to place it in a custom wall unit and need a little info regarding the use of fans and a 12v trigger.

What I'd like to do is use 2 accessory computer fans to circulate the air. One would pull in air...

      12v trigger power strip
      by garak
I have some cooling fans that I'd like to turn on when I turn on my pre/pro.

Do any of you know of a power strip that can turn power to its outlets on by using a 12v trigger?

      Thanks in advance.

I have a 1075 and an Onkyo receiver. I was using a 12v AC/DC adaptor in the switched outlets of the receiver to activate the 12v trigger in the 1075. For some odd reason the power cable failed (it was just a cheapy). I went and got a couple new universal AC/DC adaptors at Parts Express but when I got...
