Their first slide shows three identical speakers up front? :>)

I agree with their observation that most home sound systems constrict the sound to a perceived area within the room boundaries, or even worse to a much smaller area between the main left and right front speakers. This leads to an unrealistic presentation of large scale music by groups such as a symphony orchestra.

That is one reason I enjoy properly set up Magnepan speakers. The speakers themselves become sonically "invisible" and the walls of the room "disappear" -- they convey the sensation of the music coming from instruments and voices arrayed around a performing space with dimensions larger than the listening room, if that was the case where the music was recorded. For audio, that is like the visual difference between a large projection screen that subtends a very wide viewing angle, drawing us into the scene, versus a small TV whose image looks more like a postage stamp stuck on a piece of plywood. :>)

          Soundstage

Soundstage refers to the perceived spatial placement and localization of sound sources in a recording. It describes the three-dimensional presentation of audio, making it seem as if the sound is originating from specific locations within the listening environment, rather than coming directly from the loudspeakers. When a recording and playback system is capable of creating a convincing soundstage, listeners can experience a more immersive and realistic audio experience. The...

          Q re Pre-amp sections of RA1062 and RC1070
          by ds22030
I am disassembling my HT system and going back to a receiver for HT. I am using the various components (including my main speakers and RB-1080) for a separate 2-channel music system....this means I need a good 2 channel pre-amp.

Does anyone know if the pre-amp sections of RA1062 and...

          Soundstage revisited
          by brucek
I just finished listening to Sgt. Pepper's. I think it's a treat to get away from the continuously repeated homogenous mixes of today and re-experience the soundstage differences of older recordings that the likes of George Martin created years ago when they had fun with 'stereo'.

          Most...

As some of you may know I am now without my speakers. But that is a long, sad story...not fit for unsuspecting ears.

In the meantime, I want to try and learn more about what I should be getting out of my system. I am a relative newbie to this crazy addiction/hobby.
