    Emotiva Sale

I'm not sure if this is the right thread or not, but Emotiva's sale has started. I think there were a few people on the forum waiting on the sale before they pulled the trigger on a new amp. Anyways, here's the blurb:

"From November 15th through the end of the year, Emotiva is celebrating the holiday season by offering incredible deals. The XPA-5 and XPA-2 Amplifiers are only $699, one hundred dollars off the regular price of $799. The XPA-3 and UPA-7 Amps are only $599, fifty dollars off their regular price of $649. ERM-1 LCR Monitors are only $199 (regular price $229), and ERD-1 Surround Speakers are $249 a pair (regularly $299). Free shipping on these items as well."

Hope someone gets a good deal.

Yeah that XPA-5 at $699 is nuts... I thought I got it for a steal at the regular price of $799. I'm tempted to go ahead and get an XPA-2 just to have ready for my full sized Statements at some point.

depends on how a couple of the stocks I just picked up do in the next couple weeks... other than that I'm about to move and will have to buy a washer/dryer and all the other junk involved with moving.

My XPA-5 will be here shortly. Couldn't resist the sale and free shipping. Ordering was easy, communications were excellent. Ordered on the 9th, shipped the 9th, expected the 11th. Good stuff.

I just installed my XPA-5; top to bottom, Emotiva was a pleasure to deal with and professional throughout the transaction. Value is extremely high with these products, and I'm quite satisfied with my purchase!

I don't know that I can call them professional I mean I don't get the service that I get from Emotiva when I shop at Sears or Circuit City. So I would say they are a large step above professional as far as their customer service is concerned

                        I beg to ... agree!

My *only* complaint, and I do mean -only-, was that they didn't include a remote trigger cable with the amp. I had one on hand, but that $0.99 is the only flaw I've found thus far. My experience is limited, but my ears (with respect to my wallet) are happier with this setup than almost all the others I listened to (environment aside). Those that sounded better were in professional environments and well out of realistic reach of my budget.

Yeah, the trigger cable is just a headphone type patch cord. I don't think it's used in every situation so probably why its not included. Also they don't include any other cables other then the power cord. I'm not sure if other branded amps come with a trigger cable? Other then DIY this is the first commercial amp I've purchased. I've heard others though.

Broke my back getting this unpacked and into my rack. Aint movin' for awhile.

EDIT: The only thing that sucks is I ordered cables 4 days ago from Monoprice and they are not here yet going into the weekend. I ordered the XPA-5 and its here in 2.5 days. *Shrug*

Well there is one guy that will get his SE's next week....I don't know that I'd trust his opinion on how they sound though as he's going to be running some old RCA speakers on them until he can buy some AC drivers from PE and put them in the old RCA speakers and use the original crossovers??? I'm trying to talk him out of that haha....hopefully he doesn't make it over here and see this

My fiancee order my xpa5 last night!!!! I can't wait to hear it. I'm making room for it by building a flexxy tv stand. I'm almost done with it. What connections did you guys use to hook yours up?

Well currently I'm using RCA's but my new DAC as soon as I get done building it is a balanced design and I'll be using balanced outputs straight from the DAC to the amp.

Well...I finally got it my xpa-5 setup. My only dilemma now is which receiver to use for my pre-amp? My marantz sr-8400 and set the crossover point at 80hz for all channels or my HK AVR-630 and set the crossover point at around 40 Hz for my RF-7, 60 hz for my RC-7 and RS-7.

I'd say HK, the RF-7s are definitely a "full range" type speaker. Cut them off as little as possible! :T

I think I'm going to give the HK a try(I can always go back if I don't like it...it's just a pain to unhook it all and move out the reciever, then running the configuration disk again)...I have the XPA hooked up and it is amazing. What do I need to buy so I don't have to physically get up and turn it on? There was mention of a "trigger" cable, but I do not know what that is(first time for a external amp). Can I buy one of those at radio shack or something or do I have to wait another 4 days for monoprice...lol

Funny story: I wasn't supposed to get my amp until xmas day, but after it arrived on wednesday, she was watching tv and asked if I was going to hook my receiver back up(had to disconnect everything to build a new stand to house the xpa) and I told her, 'Nope...it's too much of a pain, I can wait 8 more days'. She said, 'I can't live with the sound like this, it sucks'. I laughed, and told her I can just hook up my new amp and everybody will be happy. She said, 'Hook it up because I can't play guitar hero like this, but I want to open something as well' I gave her new satellite radio to open and everybody is happy now :T

Ha ha, you know it! You should come to the PiTAG meets that wkhanna has and meet up with everyone and listen to some good music!

All you need is a mono 1/4" headphone jack cable (male on both ends) and plug one end into the receiver, the other into the amp and maybe flip a switch on the amp to use the connection. Just make sure you have the receiver set to send a signal out to turn the amp on.

Well we're talking about having one soon but unfortunately due to circumstances Bill may not be hosting it. It may be at Chris's we're trying to work out a date where Jed can come down. But the dates that Jed is available to come down seem to be conflicting with Chris's schedule as well so might not be able to do it at his place. Diana would be rather upset about doing it here so......I'm not sure what to do haha.

That will work if you have a trigger out on your receiver. I don't so im currently using the button on the XPA-5. I do have an outlet on the back, and somebody mentioned a 12v adapter. Anybody know what this 12v adapter would be that would plug into the receiver outlet then a 1/4" headphone jack from that to the XPA-5?

It's actually a 1/8" plug. 1/4" is the larger plug used on the higher end headphones a lot. I've heard of people using relays and what not to make a 12v trigger.
