HDCDs wheres a good place that lists titles?

Its been months that Ive wanted to hear an HDCD but the stores all say " you have to look at the back of the disk to tell"
Well Im just wondering if theres a site somewhere to get an idea of titles before spending a month browsing through all the titles at Best Buy

I must say, however, that HDCD's aren't anything special to my ears. Some have better production qualities than we're used to with typical CD. If I play the HDCD version of a recording and the regular CD version and I cannot tell the difference.

I'm waiting for SACD or DVD-A to catch on.

I don't think they're any competiton for SACD, but I don't have a player that has the Pacific Microsonics' HDCD chip.

That being said most of the HDCD discs sound better to my ears. Now some are remastered, as this of course makes a difference in itself.

JonMarsh brought some of the JVC discs last time he visited. They were were quite impressive using a 777ES as the playback deck.

Whether you can actually hear the extra 4-bits of resolution is one thing, but the extra care when recording/mixing/mastering HDCD albums is worth it.

        Natelie Merchant's Ophelia or
        Lisa Loeb's Firecracker

        Are two good examples.

Well, I don't know as to the why's but, when I play a HDCD I hear a difference from standard cd's. And no matter which device (of the three I own) I use to play them on, I get this result. None of them decode HDCD and only one is a dedicated cd player.

I like the results I hear from an HDCD over most standard cds with few exceptions.

I agree with Rob in that the attention to detail an HDCD recording should undergo is a positive, whether the HD format renders extra from a technical perspective.

But, SACD should be another league.

HDCD titles for new Rotel 1072
                  by spkerguy
                  Hey everyone,
Very happy with my new 1072 CDP. Although I didn't buy it for the HDCD decoding, I had some questions about HDCDs. Do they still make them? Where can I find available titles? Any good recommendations out there?

                  Thanks,

                  RSX-1056 Annoying HDCD Issue
                  by eslaudio
My new RSX-1056 has the annoying tendency to cut the first second of HDCDs. This does not happen with standard CDs but seems to be the result of the Rotel taking a second to read the HDCD. My player (Cambridge Audio Azur 640c) is not an HDCD player, and this problem did not happen with my previous...

Ordered my RCC-1055 a couple of days ago and trying to get my hands around this HDCD thing. This will be my first HDCD player, Went to ms web site and it looks like the big thing is 20 bit instead of 16 bit recording. So this is probably a silly question but is digitally remastered the same thing as...

Anyone with special titles on their Christmas wish lists?
                  by Ovation
Since acquiring a 3D capable projector, I've found it enjoyable for some of the blockbuster action movies and so have put some titles on the Christmas list: Wonder Woman, latest Spider-Man, latest Planet of the Apes... I'm hoping to get at least one to watch over the holidays.

                  Any other...
