If you received the invite through e-mail just use the link provided and you will see the price for your location when you enter shipping info. Not sure if you can get the early adopter offer if you never signed up. It states on the purchase page that e-mail verification is needed to purchase early.

I called the toll free number on the link.

As a side note I just got back from my dealer,he had the Pioneer Elite 05 model.I gave it a try with the Transformers movie ,both the blue ray and SD version of the movie.Load time was decent about 30 sec.And PQ was fine with both versions of the movie.I didn't buy it,I was there to pick up my stand for the center channel speaker stand.

I called the av solutions number.

It will be interesting to hear form the members ...I would imagine some here will have there player very soon.
I was told about 3 weeks from now If I want one.
This may sound a little silly but not sure I want to wait that long.I've had my kuro now since Jan 1st and haven't used it once.Getting my T.v stand delivered today or tomorow. So you can imagine I want to get it up and running asap at this point.

I should get mine in the next couple of hours if FedEx is on time today. To bad I have a lot of work to do for the next couple of days. Probably won't get to play until this weekend.

Well I pulled the trigger on a Blue ray player.I just ordered the Pioneer 09FD.I should have it in about a week.
What helped my decision was the audio side to the player.I was going to by the Bryston CD player. Now I won't have to so it really in the end saved me money.Plus it would take close to a month by the time I would have been able to get an oppo.
As well as the dealer support is important to me since I admit this is new for me.
At the end of the day I do feel like I made the right decision for my needs.

When and if any forum member gets their hands on an Oppo player (even a beta one), would you please let us know if there are any issues with fan noise? I am using the PS3, which has a really loud fan that is about to drive me crazy.

Mine was delivered recently, no fan noise. Really quiet.

No fan noise here. Just an issue with 24p being turned on. It won't play any BD's. Once I turn it to Off or Auto, the all play fine. I've left it to Auto for the time being.

I haven't searched this issue out yet, but wondered if anyone else has seen this.

Got mine Wednesday. Have played BD disc, Sacd, CD-r and DVD with excellent results. Fan noise can only be heard when close to unit and sound output is very low. When playing with the various setup options I selected the 24p and the screen went blank. 8O Some furious thumb action later and I managed to get 24p to off. All is good.

Much nicer looking unit than my 981. Comes with a setup BD disc in the box. Can't wait to rent or buy a few more BD movies to give it a more thorough test.

Thought I'd share a couple of unboxing pics

This is my first Oppo product so I was very impressed with the packaging. The cloth "shopping bag" the player is put in and care taken to package the thing is top notch. I'm not one who really cares about power cords and such but this thing has got the thickest power cord of any non-amplifier device I've got. The black box that the cords & remote come in is really nice. I'll probably save it and use it for photos or something. Even the manual has a 'quality' feel to it. Kinda feels like a bound masters dissertation or something.

I didn't realize it came with that blu-ray calibration disc. Very nice! All I've played so far is that demo disc but it sounds and looks amazing so far! I definitely can tell a difference in sound quality. Hopefully I'll get a SACD or two this weekend and give em a spin.

I never get tired of looking at pics like this.

Can you please expand on what you mean be being able to tell a difference in sound quality? What connections? What source (DVD A, SACD etc)? Compared to what?

I swapped a panny BD30 out for the Oppo.

                                            The path goes like this:
Oppo -> HDMI -> Denon 2307CI -> Emotiva XPA-5 -> Statements Monitors (No Sub (apartment))

I popped in the demo disc and noticed I saw the 96KHz PCM light up on my Denon, do not recall that happening w/the Panny, though I could be mistaken. Just sounded crisper and cleaner than anything I'd heard. Not sure how else to describe it! Now that I have the player I may hit up Fry's this weekend for some SACDs. Need to go back and try analog audio connection as well and see if that sounds different too (would also let me use the HDMI straight to the TV).

Also forgot to mention, this sucker starts up, boots up, ejects, loads, plays, etc very fast. Feels like a "normal" old DVD player in how fast it runs.

I never get tired of looking at pics like this.
I wish more threads had photos. If for no other reason to drool over someone elses equipment and room set up. I like seeing how others do things.

                                              Nice pic's Impala.

I delayed my order and missed the May 2nd. deadline and ordered on the 7th.
Oppo shiped yesterday on the 14th via FedEx 3 day so I should have it by Tuesday.

I was going to wait until the public release came out but decided I may be paying more if I did.

Another thing I noticed today I'd like to add: Found by accident today, that the player works just like my old DVD player in that if I just shut it off while playing a movie, or even press stop, the next time I turn on the player it will continue from where I stopped it. Very cool.

Can anyone confirm if the old region hack works?

                                                  - Press Setup.
                                                  - Press "9210" in quick succession. A new window will appear.
                                                  - Press "0".
                                                  - Press Setup to exit.

I'd like to ask the guys at AVS since most of the EAP volunteers are there, but I'm not allowed to talk about region hacks there.

Would this be a big upgrade from the PS3? or only a little bit? Pondering if the PS3 will suffice for now or if I should jump on the oppo bandwagon

Well, there's a ridiculously long thread over in AVS. And taking the word of the EAP customers, the majority who own PS3s as well have stated that the Oppo is good enough to replace the PS3.
I mainly want it for upconverting my DVDs (if it can be made region free).

There are different regions in the world for DVDs and BDs. Region A, B, and C (see map)

                                                              Image not available

When you buy a DVD player in north america it is set for Region A and will not play DVDs from region B. Region free means the player will play DVDs from anywhere.

The movie "Taken" is a good example why this is done. That movie was release over a year ago in Region B. In order to make sure people in region A dont import and copy it prior to it coming to releasing here the studios resort to region coding.

This is one HUGE reason HD DVD was better then BD. No region coding.

IMO its archaic and helps create exactly what the studios are trying to avoid.

So cdika17, when you live at the bottom of the world in New Zealand, multi-region is very important. I'm a very satisfied OPPO owner so this limitation in their new BD machine is a big disappointment to me. If I lived in the US I'd probably have quite a different opinion.

                                                                  Nigel.

PS If any reader doesn't know where New Zealand is look at the map above. I live on the southern island of the two islands to the right and just below Australia ("B"). No, not Africa. The other "B" on the right of the map.

First impressions after only a couple of hours of play time are very positive. I already liked the Oppo company before, but they really upped their game with this unit. Fit and finish, packaging, HDMI/Power cables, Remote, etc. are all top notch and the BR picture is outstanding. Haven't checked out the SACD/DVD-Audio yet.

I want to use this as my CD player also. I am trying to find out what would be the best way to send audio from a CD to the Rotel? I currently have a digital coax cable hooked up but feel that the unit is using the HDMI to send it as the HDMI icon lights up on the unit. How can I choose the output option for the digital coax or should I continue the way it is? The only problem I see due to that is I wanted a 2 channel setup, if I use the HDMI my center chaneel fires up also! Any suggestions? Thanks.

I think what you want to do is keep the signal analog all the way. Use analog LR cables from the player to the 1570. Try it out and see if you like it or can hear a difference.
