I've posted my thoughts on this fine miniseries in the DVD director. However I know many don't go over there...are any of you watching?

It's available on a pay movie channel here which i do not subscribe to. I will,however,buy the dvd set when it becomes available.I am hearing good things about it, though some are complaining about it being slow at times.That's probably because they are looking for action, whereas this series is about people, and character development is often looked up as dull to some viewers.

Hmmm. They've turned up the action knob a bit. Episode IV, "Replacements" (concerning Operation Market Garden) was much more SPR-like.

I got the video capture/directv part of my htpc ironed out just in time for this HBO miniseries.
I ordered HBO and will cancel it right after this is over.
Is it all worth it??? YES!!!
This story has been the perfect 2 hour diversion.

I'm currently watching a re-run of this series on satellite TV and I'm amazed how good it is. I didn't watch it when it first screened because I assumed it would be another all-presentation-no-content shoot-em-up piece of Hollywood crap. Instead I find it's a gripping story with excellent character...

Amazon.com is listing it as a 6 DVD set, with a 1.66:1 anamorphic display. The sound choices are DTS, DD 5.1, DD 2.0. Included are all 10 episodes, the 11th "episode" - a documentary called We Stand... -
I picked up the first two seasons of Rome and Band of Brothers for Christmas and thoroughly enjoyed them. They have renewed my interest in movies. Are there any series that come close to the level that these two shows have achieved in terms of plot, character development, etc that you'd recommend?
