Band Of Brothers - It's Coming

This title popped up in the November releases list in this post.

Amazon.com is listing it as a 6 DVD set, with a 1.66:1 anamorphic display. The sound choices are DTS, DD 5.1, DD 2.0. Included are all 10 episodes, the 11th "episode" - a documentary called We Stand Alone Together which has several of the actual members of Easy Company of the 101st Airborne that were portrayed in the series commenting on their training, the European campaign and their comrades. Also included is a Making of "Band Of Brothers" documentary and a video diary by one of the actors (Ron Livingston).

If you saw this series when it aired on HBO last year, you know what an awesome collection this could and should be. If you didn't see it, get in line to buy or rent this when it comes out. I highly recommend it.

We didn't get this series in this part of the continent. Hope it's not too expensive for this ol' Canuck.

I purchased this 6-disc blu-ray set off Amazon a few weeks ago.

          What a magnificent series!
It follows the true life experience of "Easy Company" (Airborne infantry company) from training through to the end of WWII.

Produced by Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks and winner of multiple Golden Globes and Emmys. All class, magnificent performances, picture, sound and production.

Read more about it here http://www.amazon.com/Band-Brothers-...8245725&sr=8-2

I eventually got to see the series when it was shown as a repeat on another network. Darn good for tv stuff and right up there with some of the great war films like Saving Private Ryan, The Longest Day, etc.

I worked on the Pacific. I think that it is better than "Band of Brothers". Same author, same concept. Was privliged to meet some of the surviving men and their families.

Ah, Bob... I'm going to have to meet up with you sometime and buy you a beer to hear all about you and your stories!

I have only recently caught up with Band of Brothers for the first time when I purchased the blu-ray box set.

Truly excellent in all regards .Why cant we have more television of this quality?

I heard about The Pacific mini series some months ago and have been keenly awaiting it since.

Unfortunately out here in Australia I fear it will be quite some time after March before we can see it.

                      Definate blind buy on blu-ray.

                      Cheers Brendon

Waiting on The Pacific, too. With a budget around $200 million (and especially Bob's recommendation) I think we're in for a treat.

                          + waiting on The Pacific.

Yeah, that Bob has so many stories he could tell us. I keep hoping he'll be involved in a filmmaking project up this way sometime so I can have him as a guest.

Judging by the quality of Band of Brothers, this will be a blind buy for me (on BD, of course).

Series at the level of Rome and Band of Brothers
                              by thadman
I picked up the first two seasons of Rome and Band of Brothers for Christmas and thoroughly enjoyed them. They have renewed my interest in movies. Are there any series that come close to the level that these two shows have achieved in terms of plot, character development, etc that you'd recommend?

What would cause my computer to change DST a week early? The date is set right and everything..... Supposed to happen the first Sunday in November which would be this up coming weekend but my computer already changed. And when I update the time over the internet it sets it an hour early. I'm a bit baffled...

                              Ancient Aliens :alol:

I popped this hilarious documentary series off my library shelves the other day in a fit of desperation for rainy day entertainment. It is a series that basically tries to convince it's viewers that we were visited by Aliens many times in the past...
