    Is this a decent deal?

Toshiba TheaterWide 44" DLP High Definition Ready TV

    $1,249.99
    + $5 shipping

    condition: Refurbished product(s):

1 Toshiba TheaterWide 44nhm84 44 in. DLP HD Ready TV

Silly as this sounds I was thinking for my computer monitor. If I'm going to pay $600.00 for a flat screen monitor why not this?

For that kind of money why don't you get a Westinghouse LCD that does no joke 1080P with a computer hooked up to it?

I am always worried about refurb av gear but that is just me.

Until you said refurb it was great! If it comes with a full mfgr's warranty and a good extended warranty is available, then I suppose it'd be okay. I'm a bit prejudiced though, as I had a bad experience the one time I tried a refurbished product.

:agree: Plus Dave it is a DLP. Who knows was it the DLP engine that was bad?? To much stuff to worry about if you ask me.

I'd add to that list computers. (Bad experience with a refurb comcrap years ago.)

I have only bought two pieces of refurbed equipment. Although they are not critical to the functioning of my system, they both work great. One is my Pioneer receiver which I've had for over three years (OK, the remote died) and my Samsung 841 DVD player. Otherwise, I bought everything new!

I've bought several pieces of refurb stuff from ecost.com and never had a minutes problem. I know several right her on this forum who have done the same with no problems that I've heard of. My Denon 2900 is a refurb and is several years old now.

I helped a fellow install a HT room and we ordered a Denon 2805 refurb and a Denon 1200 refurb... going on 1.5 years now with no problems.

BUT... I don't know that I would buy a DLP bigscreen being refurbed.

The thing I think is good about refurbs is if they are refurbed by the manufacturer they are pretty much going to be checked out by their technicians pretty well... in some cases it might be better than taking a chance with a new item. Bigscreens otoh are usually refurbed by the closest authorized service center because of shipping, weight, etc... who knows how knowledgeable some of those places are and/or how good a job they might have done on the set. Not saying that's the case with all of them because I wouldn't have anyway to know that... just sounds scary to me.

Bought a refurb Hitachi 36" years ago and absolutely no problem. If you could get an extended warranty with in-home service for a reasonable price...

I've been checking out some sets for a bedroom armoire. I want to get the biggest set that I can fit into the bloody thing. This seems like it fits the bill. I can get it for $2,450.00 (CDN) without the stand. What do you think?

I finally got my new Toshiba 65HDX82 Widescreen RPTV set up. :yesnod:

It was a long day as I had to work it by myself. Trying to get that styrofoam out from under that 280 pound set was not as easy as I thought it would be. :sos: Picking up one end with one hand (while on my old and...

Well, I finally sealed up the calibration on my 56H80 and thought I would share my results. What follows is a review of the TV itself and the results of the calibration.

As many are aware, the 56H80 is the latest model of Toshiba's 56" 16x9 set. After suffering at the hands of downconversion...

                    Refurb/B-Stock Rotel?
                    by spiffnme
How does Rotel sell their B-Stock/Factory Refurb merchandise? I'm always on the lookout for a bargain, so quite often purchase open box, b-stock, refurbished, or even used gear.

I know Denon has several outlets for selling refurb gear. How does Rotel handle the selling of their refurb...

                    Hi!

I just purchased the Toshiba 57HX93 last weekend and have it installed into our family room. High Defination broadcasts are aquired courtesy of the Bell ExpressVu 6000 HD Satelite Receiver.
