Using a Dac, no sound is coming from Pc or Tv

No sound from Pc or Tv using a Dac

I have bought new speakers and ordered many cables and a Dac.This is my first Dac and it's a cheap one.

It's not a usb Dac.I connected an optical cable to Pc and connected the other end of the cable to the Dac's optical input. Then connected two 1input 1output rca cables to the left and right outputs of the Dac.And then connected the other ends of the rca cables to Y splitters and then connected the splitters to the the speakers. I also connected the power adapter of the Dac to electric plug.

The Dac turns on because I see a red light on it.There is no button on the Dac.The problem is, I hear no sound coming from speakers.I tried with another set of rca cables too, still no sound.I tried connecting the optical cable to the Tv instead of Pc, still no sound.

I tried using two 1x rca to 1x Xlr cables instead of rca cables, still no sound.Seems like the Dac is corrupt, is there any possibility?Maybe there is something which I should change on Windows 11?Actually I had bought this Dac to use with Tv,

My other problem is, I wanted to use 1x3.5mm to 2xlr stereo cable. This cable is new too.I connected 3.5mm plug to the Pc, connected one of Xlr ends to the speaker on the left and the other Xlr end to the speaker on the right. The sound comes from only one speaker. I played with some Windows 11 settings, also became sure that "mono" setting was closed, no change. Then I replaced the Xlr ends, then the sound starts coming from the other speaker which was not working and the previously working speaker stopped producing sound. It seems obvious that the cable is corrupt but is there another possibility? If not, I will send the cable back to the dealer.

I tried using a 3.5mm to 2x rca cable + 2 Y splitters to connect speakers to Pc and it worked, so the speakers are working. But I need to make Dac running for connecting the speakers to the Tv.

Does the dac only have one input? If it has multiple inputs be sure the optical input is selected.
also on the TV make sure in settings that outputting sound via optical is an option.

      Thanks for your answer.

The Dac has two inputs, one optical one coaxial, it seems not possible to select an input from the Dac.On Windows, "digital audio output" is selected(it automatically selects it after I connect the optical cable).

What dac is it? The PC sees the dac but I wonder if the Dac is actually routing the optical to the output. Do you have a cd or DVD player with coaxial out to see if that input works?

What DAC is it? You're being a bit vague here- being able to consult a product data sheet might help others trying to trouble shoot for you.

The problem is, I don't think it has a brand. On the shopping website, the Dac's brand was written as "Boblov".But neither on it's package nor on it's user manual is written a brand name. It's most likely a noname Dac.

I have noticed that when I connect the optical cable into the dac and power cable into the electric strip, the other end of the optical cable which is not plugged doesn't have a red beam. It may be natural though, because the dac's port is input.

I had ordered a new dac, I have received it today. This is a very similar device, though this one has a brand, even the user manual is almost same. . I did the same connections using same cables, connected to the tv and at first try it worked without problem.

Although the previous dac's seller had claimed that it was almost impossible that it was corrupt because they test the devices before sending, the fact that the new dac is working without problem proves that previous one is corrupt.

Question: Optical VS RCA/XLR for Audio
                      by nick.h
                      Hi,

I current use an optical connection from my DVD player to my A/V Reciever. It also supports RCA connections for each channel.

Is there any benifit in using RCA over optical?

I know if you use seperates from a processor it uses RCA/XLR to the amplifier...

                      Optical inferiór to RCA ?

                      Hi all,
I thought this was so simple! optical being digital should be better than analog RCA connector!! Well, seems not to be the case... atleast for stereo listening

Question about DAC and CD players
                      by nicky
                      1) If I have a CD player connected using an optical digital cable to a receiver or another external DAC, does it really matter at all what the quality of the CD player is since all the DAC is done at the receiver end.

                      2) Also, I was wondering what would be better....to get an expensive...

Currently I'm in contact with Rotel regarding my 1095 that gives of a hum when connected to my pre/pro. The hum that the amp gives of is only present when my DVD player is connected to pre/pro via coax but not with optical. Its also present when my dvd/pre is connected by optical and I connect my sub...
