I was also tempted by the Loki - BUT - the Loki is designed to *add* DSD to an existing DAC, whereas the iFi DSD Nano is a multi-talent standalone DAC - and probably the only DAC you'll need. It supports:
• PCM from 16/44kHz all the way up to 32/384kHz.
• DSD all the way up to 6.2MHz.
• DXD up to 384kHz.
It's also portable, with an internal battery (or USB powered), and sounds truly amazing considering it's size and price. I'm having a lot of fun with mine, and totally recommend it. More info: http://ifi-audio.com/portfolio-view/nano-idsd/
I've since taken my SSP-800 out of service for 2 channel. I'm currently using a Mac Mini, feeding an iFi DSD Nano (via USB), directly hooked to a CA-2200 (phono input). Simple and effective. Software is Audirvana Plus with "DSD over PCM" enabled. An Apple remote control works a treat, and controls volume too.
I think I'm going to be able to hold off on that CP-800 purchase with this set up for now :T- Mike

There's a review here: http://www.audiostream.com/content/i...cheadphone-amp
Bottom line: "I'd say iFi nailed this one. The iDSD offers what I hear as a more fulsome, dimensional, and all around more engaging sound as compared to many of the like-competitors on the market. For its asking price and multiples thereof, the iFi iDSD makes a no-brainer recommendation for use as a PCM, DXD, and DSD DAC. Consider the headphone amp a bonus."- Mike

This sounds like a great piece for portable usage- I've been starting to look for something like this, as an intermediate step with something that would work from iDevices or a Mac, and support music on business and personal travel. It hasn't been urgent, since business travel has been confined to commuting to Cupertino this year, and no time for personal travel. Much cheaper alternative to an AK120!the AudioWorx
