mixing 4 and 8 ohm speakers

is it ill-advisable to mix 4 and 8 ohm speakers, such as using 4 ohm speakers for the front and rear and an 8 ohm speaker (of a different brand, too) for the center?

i think the receiver (sony da1000es) has an adjustment that would limit the output to all speakers at 4 ohms.

    thanks.

Your receiver shouldn't have a problem with the mixed load but using different brands of speakers for the front three speakers isn't advisable if possible as there's little chance of getting a nice cohesive soundstage with different speakers and that's quite important across the front. You wouldn't want a tank to sound like a tank on the right speaker then sound like a mini cooper in the centre and then back to a tank on the left speaker
