That's a nice deal! I think I will buy two.

I do have 1 already, but a spare wouldn't hurt.

FYI, you newbies, most of us tend to prefer the analog meter over the digital one. It actually reads to a greater level of detail than the digital. What do you use it for? Well, to set the channels on your home theater so they read the same from your sweet spot of your theater. You want your theater to sound even all the way around the room. That's the way to do it accurately.

I thought I read somewhere they were going to stop making the analog model. Would be a shame if they did.

Lex, I've GOT a spare, so that when they do quit building them and my first wears out, I'll be good to go for another 5-10 years. :T

I can't wait to get myself an spl meter. I think my sound is great now. Even from my satellites (soon to be floorstanders-fingers crossed for new job). I could just imagine how the sound would be when properly callibrated with an spl meter.

                Hi everyone,

I'd like to have your opinions on some measurement product, an SPL meter and LCR meter to be specific.

SPL Meter : I know alot of people around here have the RatShack SPL meter but unfortunately for me I'm a Canadian and RadioShack only sell his stuff to US...

What do you guys use to hold your microphone or SPL meter?

I'm at the point where I'd like to have a good method to actually hold my Radio Shack analog SPL meter during my home theater calibrations. Also, my Parasound C1 processor has an auto-calbration microphone used for the same purpose...

                Hey guys,

I'm looking to purchase a spl meter and thought I would ask you guys which one is pretty decent. I don't want to spend too much, I would prefer around $40 or less if possible. It would be nice if I could get a unit that would be able to hook up to a laptop and plot out a frequency...

Good deal on Cen-Tech SPL meter
                by Mazeroth
I found this link while browsing another audio site for the Cen-Tech (rebranded Radio Shack) SPL meter. Came out to $27.99 with shipping for me with the free bag. Read the whole thread before ordering if you want to get the free bag. Supposedly the coupon for the free bag only works if you spend...

                SPL with this??
                by Rolyasm
I just bought an SPL meter. I have had the Stereophile CD for awhile but am not sure if it will work. It has a bunch of music but it also has varying frequencies at 20DdB. For instance:
                Track 4- 200Hz 1 3 Octave warble tone at 20 dB
                Track 5- 160Hz 1 3 Octave warble tone at 20dB...
