Wow...that gold one (the 9000) is really ugly. Very, um...tall though. Only 2 component video ins, that's unacceptable for a flagship product.
Judging by the pricing I'm guessing we'll never see a proper replacement for the TAE9000ES pre/pro. This appears to be that replacement.

This one will be interesting to follow. This looks to be a monster. Let's hope it is worthy of it's "Flagship" title.

Looks like you will have to build a room around that thing. I just think sony's are cheap. I own a sony dvd player and I don't like it. The build quality on my dvd player I feel is low maybe it's just the plastic. don't get me wrong sony was the ablility to build nice gear. Do the reciever's have better build quality? Let's see how the sound is? just my two cents.

you could always use it as an end table
Hehe, yeah or as an enclosure for a "unique" DIY sub.
Apologies Claude, we sorta got off topic, eh? I checked out Sony's website (which is IMO poorly put together) and couldn't find any mention of this beasty. Non-US release only?

I first saw the Sony stuff on a reward point program for people that sell Sony.It will be available in the USA and Canada soon.Sony is brutal at updating their website.I find lots of new Sony gear on the Oade Bros. site or Crutchfield way before Sony has it on their site.- Bottom

Sony's site does suck! Now that it's become a Sony Style store it's even worse. Try useing their search engine...and good luck finding anything.I checked out Sony's website (which is IMO poorly put together) and couldn't find any mention of this beasty. Non-US release only?
I read somewhere the US version of the above receivers is due this Fall in the US. Hopefully sooner though...I'm still scratching my head over only having 2 component video ins though! I mean, for a multi-thousand dollar top-of-the-line receiver that's just bad.

OK, since you left the door open...
Using that logic, where are the DVI & Firewire inputs on the new Sony receiver??? For that matter, where are they on any receiver or pre-pro?

Yea, and it's for audio, not video.Actually, it does have firewire. Sony calls it i-link.

Because up above someone said it was an alternative to component video. I'm making my point that it is not (at least not yet). Why would you want that?

I just posted some pics and info on the Sony gear for those who might want to see them.I don't believe people should bash or criticize these products without any hands on experience with them.- Bottom

Yes, all video signals on satellite are compressed. In fact, your DVD player, your satellite tuner, your D-VHS deck, whatever, all use compressed video, but they all decompress the signal before sending it to your receiver to be switched to your display, which does NOT accept compressed signals. So you can't use firewire to send video to any display on the market right now. It does not have the bandwidth.
So why would you want it in a receiver which you are using to switch video sources to your display?

I had to look at the spec's on this beast and am wondering if the watt's on this sony are conservative or a true reading 7x200w. The spec sheet is lacking. It is missing weight, and size. I will give it proper respect if it sounds good at a good price.

If they're using digital amplifier modules like the ICE units (by the way, anyone remember what that stands for?), it couled easily be putting out 1400 watts I would think. B&O is putting 4 of those in one speaker for a total of 2500 watts, and the "Xray" shot of the speaker showing the guts for that is far smaller than this receiver.

I'd be pretty shocked if it is using digital amps. If that's the case, why is it so friggin' huge? That size has got to be to house the traditional amp.

Don't be, they're sitting unused and packed away in my computer room. I'll trade you my BP2000's for your silver 1066.

If he won't trade, BP2000s make great side speakers in a 6.1/7.1 configuration. (That's how I'm using mine.) But of course, that requires having a processor like the 1066 which support those modes, so...Originally posted by SiliGoosethey're sitting unused and packed away in my computer room. LOL!
Yea, I'm now back to a H/K receiver. What a year...from one H/K to an Anthem to an Act 3 to another H/K. I almost bought a 1066...but the fact that my dinky apartment couldn't possibly support all 4 of my DefTech towers kind of made that purchase a waste of money.
Oh well, going back to school so I can buy more toys in the future. For now, I'll just live my HT life through you guys (if that's OK).
