    Favourite Bass Demo Scenes

Okay, we haven't seen one of these threads here, and if we did, it disappeared way too fast.

Seeing as I'll be adding some new subs to my system this weekend, I thought it would be fun to start a thread as to peoples favourite Bass Demo Scenes.

    In no particular order:
    1. Matrix: the dojo scene when Morpheus does a knee plant.
Toy Story 2: Openning title sequence
      Das Boot: Depth Charge scene
Saving Private Ryan: Openning battle scene
Titan AE: Pretty much the whole movie, laser shots, spaceship flights.

As soon as I saw the title of this thead I thought to myself, "Titan AE...the whole movie."

While it's better known for its use of front-to-back and side-to-side pans, the Episode 2 Pod Race scene has some exceptional bass too.

      U-571 - Depth Charge scenes
SW:TPM - Pod race, lightsaber battles
The Haunting (DTS) - "Coming Mother" - lots of subsonic stuff here!
      Titan:AE - Ice fields
      Fight Club - Plane crash
Toy Story 2 - opening sequence, crossing the street
Independence Day - beginning sequence when the mothership passes over the moon

Also, any movie with a dance, techno, or hip-hop soundtrack!

After seeing EP2:AOTC last night I have to say this DVD will likely have some sub buster scenes too!

Hard to beat U571 for low end thrills. And all of the titles mentioned are excellent examples. I'll add the tank scene from James Bond's GOLDENEYE. It'll make your walls rumble.

Saving ryans privates also has a lot of low bass in it as does The Iron Giant. The trailer for Monsters Inc is impressive as well.

All the above are great. I'll add:

Lost in Space- going through the hyper-gate

Wing Commander- all the battle scenes with torpeados or bombing runs

One of my favorite bassy scenes is in The Haunting (DTS), the scene where the ghost knocks Nell out of the bed (who could blame him?) and chases her down the hall. I think it's ch. 17, very deep stuff.

I'm with ThomasW on this one- plus it's a really cool scene, in how they handled the ship dynamics and the whole deal coming down- I'd buy the DVD just for this sequence...

BTW, there's a few bits in attack of the clones I'd put in the same league- looking forward to the DVD in November.

The Long Kiss Goodnight, bridge explosion!

Whoa, backup, revisit Matrix, the Pod scene, can really gyrate, and shells from 1 or more of the guns in the lobby scene!

Oh, there's many many more, just my brain isn't working right now.

But without a doubt, U571 will make inferior subs go to their knees at reference levels. It's earth shattering, the impact level on those depth charges! SPR was a good SPL generator too. Both already mentioned, but thought I would throw my comments in.

Judging by a sample I have er, um, experienced, you guys will be adding LOTR to this list in about 7 weeks.

                          Cave busting balrogs got bass.

Thanks for the list, unfortunately, I can't decode DTS, so I'll have to skip over those titles.

I do beleive Attack should have some really good demo scenes, I was sorely disappointed with the bass level in the theater.

I will have to check out LOTR.

Another great scene is the intro for Die Hard (DTS). When the plane is landing it should feel like your on the run way.

Just watch the beginning of Disney’s Atlantis and it has some good base. Looks like this will be a pretty good movie
