No sound problem with Sony STRDA777ES receiver

When I returned home today, I turned on the receiver, TV, CD, and VCR via Cinema 7 remote's macro....no sound from any source. Checked all the connections on the back of the receiver...no loose connections. My 1 year old Sony 777ES receiver has been running fine for the past 2.5 months since it was repaired (major flameout due to a possible shortcircuit: Sony Canada replaced mainboard, IC's, transformers, etc.).

One possible solution is to replace the Sony receiver with my Technics receiver and DD/DTS decoder from my bedroom system. However, I would have to remove all the banana connections on the speaker cables so they can fit into the Technics speaker clips.

And I don't want to once again return (read: move) this 60 pound box back to my local dealer. Transporting this receiver down three flights of stairs is a real pain.

Any other tips before I try this?

Is it powering up? Fuse if not, perhaps. But either way, your looking at a dealer trip. I say make Sony eat it and get you a new piece. You shouldn't have to take this kind of quality. Unfortunately, that's been my experience with Sony last few years. Goodluck!

I have it hooked up via the HDMI ports and everything is working except the Menu page of the Sony.

Tonight, I was using a test tone CD to evaluate my dual Mission subs. Then suddenly, half way through, my Sony receiver sparked and started flaming....then it went into protection mode. I am pretty sure that there was a short circuit somewhere. Unhooked everything...except the power plug and turned...

I have a Sony STR-DG800 AV Receiver and a Mirage BFS-100 powered subwoofer. I am trying to connect the subwoofer’s low-level input jacks to the pre out output jack of the receiver to supply a low signal to the subwoofer. I can’t get an output out of these jacks to the subwoofer. I have tested the...

      Sony TA-N9000ES & STR-DG1000

I recently purchased the TA-N9000ES to hook it up to my Sony receiver DG1000 using the pre outs. I am using the new Series 600 B&W speakers: front channel are the 684, centre is the HTM62 and a pair of the 686 for rear channels.
According to some reviews in other forums they mentioned a...
