As an owner of the 3300, and after reading so many reviews before I purchased, I would agree Denon consistently puts out a great receiver.

Sony, Yamaha, and Denon, in no particular order.
What? Was I supposed to vote for just one? Hey wait, what's that butterfly doing here?

Another Vote for Denon (5800)
If we where to say five years then I would give my vote to NAD.

Gotta be Denon. They've done a great job of marketing themselves as both "high-end" and "high value". That's a tough thing to do in this industry.

I'd say Denon. Although, I'm not too pleased with the 3801, even though it is selling really well.
Is it my imagination, or is Onkyo/Integra doing a few things right the last year or so?
I used to think Sony ES, but they dropped a bit in my book.
Denon..

Definately Denon, yamaha, and Sony.
I owned a Yamaha for a while, and it was just what I needed at the time.
If I were to buy a receiver today it would be a tough choice between the Denon 5800, and the B&K 307.- Bottom

What don't you like about the 3801 ? I own a Denon for the first time and I truly love the 3801.

George: Actually, I quite like the Denon 3801 except for one small thing. It is a brighter amp than the regular Denon line. I bought it and auditioned it for a week, but couldn't get used to the bright sound. I moved from a Sony333ES to get rid of the "bright" sound. I don't know how to phrase it any other way than bright.
I really, really wanted to like this receiver. I was getting a good deal on it. It had everything I wanted. The heat problem of the 3300 has been totally cured. But, try as I might, I couldn't.
But, it also depends on what speaker you mate it to, and what your listening tastes are.
If you like the sound, I am a firm promoter of the Denon 3801. I like Denon's and the 3801 lives up to the name, but not the Denon sound, IMHO.
But, I would not hesitate to tell others to give it a listen, if it is in their price range!
... Greg.
