    Need A Good Hi-Def Antenna

    Hi,

Well I'm about 45 miles from a high definition transmission tower and I tried a Phillips indoor antenna and it didn't have enough range (20 miles). So, I thought someone here might have some suggestions. I could possibly use an outdoor antenna outside, if it's not too big.

Going to need an outdoor for sure. Or they have big ones that can go in an attic.

If the channel is going to be UHF (14+) or high VHF (7-13) after the digital switchover in February, I would recommend the Channel Master 4228. high VHF up to 45 miles, UHF up to 60.

It's not a traditional boom antenna, so it's pretty discrete when mounted outside.

Magnum Dynalab sells an indoor unit.
IIRC, this one will work for HD OTA signals, but I would advise you contact them to be sure.

Thanks for all the replies. I can't spend $400 for the Channel Master 4228. 8O Channel Master at Amazon

Is it really $400. I just saw it at another store for about $50 but it was out of stock. I'll keep looking. I think the distance to the transmitter towers is more like 30 miles. I may try a Terk amplified indoor antenna.

The 4221 may work pretty good and its like 40 bucks on amazon.

              Some options

Unfortunately most outdoor antennas are directional. So if you need to point in multiple directions you may want to look for a motorized pole topper sort of thing.

We buy the 4228 here locally for about $70.
