Help with Denon 3808 amp assign

    Hi guys -

Got my first serious stereo set finally and am having a bit of trouble. I'm running a Denon 3808 receiver + a Rotel 1075 5-channel power amp. The 5.1 setup works fine (running interconnects from my receiver to my power amp to my living room speakers) - am trying to use the "amp assign" function to power the two speakers in my bathroom (as zone 2) - however, i can't seem to get zone 2 to work. If I set it as "bi-amp", the sound works - so the connection, cabling and speakers seem fine. I've cranked up the volume for zone 2 and selected a source, but still no sound... quite odd... some help would be very much appreciated.

What source are you tring to use? The AVR-3808CI has DAC's for zone 2 (analog connections still work fine as well), but the audio has to be PCM two channel and come from an optical or coaxial digital input. If the source is only connected HDMI it won't work.

wow that was a quick and useful answer!

so i plugged in my ipod via an analogue connection and it works!

mmm my main audio source is my denon 2930 player connected via denonlink / hdmi (audio is set via denonlink) and secondary source is my ps3 (through HDMI only) - so if i wanted to get audio from these sources playing for zone 2, will i need an additional TOSlink cable going?

      Thanks Eric!

Yes you need a Toslink cable for it to work. Also remember that the signal has to be a PCM two channel for you to get sound. If it's a Dolby Digital signal, you won't get sound.

How does it know which signal to use if I have both Denonlink and a TOS cable plugged in? I suppose I can turn off the Denonlink via the DVD player menus but can I use both connections at the same time?

You have to have the Toslink set up as the input source for it to work. If you want to use the Denon Link (which I'd do if you have the option) then run analog cables from the front left and right outputs for the second zone feed. That will make things a lot easier.

Thanks hifiguymi! I guess I will just have to go analog for zone 2 then...

Denon 3808 issue - no audio on Zone 2
                by Pez
Recently picked up a denon 3808 and am having a problem with the audio from digital sources (HDMI) on zone 2. When using the tuner on zone 2 it works fine but when I try something like my cable box or HD-DVD player connected via HDMI I get no audio output on the outdoor speakers. One of the reasons...

OK... So hooking up Zone 2 now.

The question I have is as follows ... I have the Sat receiver and DVD all hooked up by S-Video & Toslink and Component & Digital Coax respectively.

Now if I understand the procedure properly I need to run a separate set of analogue...

                RSX-1055 and zone 2 question
                by srinathalapati
                Folks,

I own a RSX-1055 and I am planning to buy an amplifier (Audio Source AMP100) to power outdoor speakers. I was reading the RSX-1055 manual about zone 2 operation and it confused me a bit. I am looking for some clarification from the experts here. On page 25 in the manual it says:...

                RSP-1098 Zone 2 Amplifier Question
                by gostan
I made the mistake of going to my audio dealer yesterday. He had a close-out on a discontinued new Aragon 8008ST DualMono Amplifier 200x2 which I now have hooked up to run my fronts with the RMB-1075 running the center and rears. I thought that there was a way to re-assign the front left and right...

                Hello everyone,
I'm using the zone 2 feature on the 9.4 where i'm not using the fixed volume outs on the unit. Instead I activated and am using the Zone2 outputs which are the 6th and 7th speaker in a 7.1 configuration. Integra allows you to either use the outputs as speaker 6 and 7, or to...
